Default Upgrade Seat Padding

Is it easy to remove the upholstery on a 03 outback w/ cloth seats? I'd like to replace the padding under the seats. From what I understand, I may have to take out the whole seat, and disassembly it entirely in order to accomplish this. I dont want to do this as I dont want to mess with the airbags...any tips? thanks!

Take it to an interior shop and have them do it. Cost some money but gets done right and you don't have to worry about screwing it up.

Check body shops many also do interiors. I think Maaco does this stuff to or atleast can recommend someone.

I have an '03 and unless it's a 'limited ' with leather seats they don't have side airbags. The airbag sensors do not run to the seats if not equiped.

With any airbag system disconnect the fuse, and hit the brakes and few times or leave the dome light on for 10min. This will drain the capacitors of any risdual power in the system.

From what I've heard, the Seats come in three pieces, and you should be able to buy a new seat section if you want. But you have to take the seats out reguardless if your working on them.

Is it a powered seat? Heated? all these things can cause problems and as such it is best left to someone who has done it before. If you must try it do the passenger seat first.
