Default Into the 10's w my Full Weight STI on pump and Aquamist !

Its been a long road to reach the 10's with my beloved '05 STI. I have been looking forward to this for a long time and it certainly did not come easy this time, but having been a tough challenge it feels all the better. The best part is driving around today in my 10 second street Subaru.

This year I have broke the half shafts 5 times without moving more than 2 feet at the line, those who follow my You Tube Dyno Flash channel will recall all the visits to the track that ended with broken half shafts

Thanks to the Drive Shaft Shop I upgraded to the Level 5 system which also broke

Since I feel the stock STI suspension is perfect as is and handles great, I had to use tire pressure adjustments to work my way around the rear wheel hop issues which were breaking the shafts. In the future, I may consider a KW coil over set up but for now, I was trying to "get er done" with the stock parts.

After some experimentation and a few easy launches, last night I was able to make some full passes down the track with a best MPH of 133 and a best et of 10.9 all with full weight stock suspension pump gas with Aquamist meth injection

Sadly, as expected they threw me off the track so I could not try to improve on the 10.9 time

I think there is significant room for improvement on that time with some improvement in the 60' time

Many of my tuning customers have been out for test drives in my car over the past year and this engine I built has proven rock solid 100% reliable, at the track I used the same pump gas hydra 2.6 tune up that I drive every day I did not even take out the lap top to adjust or data log the tune up is right on the money as is - only issue was launching without wheel hop

Mods include

Darton Sleves
Ross Pistons
Arrow rods
Super Tech Valves .5 mm
GSC cams
Cosworth head gaskests and large oil pan and pick up

Ultimate Racing gt35 R kit with fmic .63 a/r

Agency Power fuel rails
Buschur Double Pumper
PE 850 injectors

Aquamist HFS 5

Hydra 2.6

E Boost 2

Modified transmission
Exedy triple ceramic clutch

Drive Shaft Shop half shafts

Here is my You Tube video of the action

Thanks to all my customers, fellow tuners and especially ICS Performance for your support and assitance

More of the same. Its my daily driver and a car we use here at ICS every day to take Subaru customers out to show them how a pump gas and meth car can run. It must have over 150 1st through 4th demonstration pulls on it many of them can be seen on my You Tube Channel - Dyno Flash.

As far as modification upgrades, I am going to upgrade the turbo to the new Precision 62.62 with a larger back housing. We have a similar customer car here which has that turbo that is totally insane. That project should be nearing completion by next week.

Along with the bigger turbo, I will need to swap the tumblers and go with larger top feed injectors, that should get me into the 600 whp range on pump and meth and nearing the high 130's in trap speed.

For now, I am just really enjoying the car the way it is, it took some time for it all to come together but I finally have a Subaru which can smack down nearly every import car I meet on the street.

jebus there's a lot left in that time. 1/8 mph is pretty high for a 7.1. I can see a 6.80-6.90 with a solid launch.

though after your mention of breaking haflshafts I can see why you have been taking it easy on launches.

nice pick up on the back 1/8 too 30mph aint to shabby.

The Topspeed Time attack car uses the same A/R on it. The .82 didn't make any difference When you have a head package that actually has a good VE you can get very good results out of smaller hot sides.

Thanks, my history with Subarus has always been big power and crappy driving

I have come a long way since September of '02 running a 11.88 @ 124 ! with my bug eye with the full JDM STI swap - that close ratio C spec box is a real tough one

To get this one down the track without breaking I had to run 44 psi of pressure on the back tires and slip the clutch as much as I could through 1st

I think with a good suspension it could 60' much quicker and it could run a mid 10

With both the STI and EVO running at the same time, its a real happy time for me !

what kind of oil pressure are you seeing at 9500? do you have any mods to help with the oiling at that high of a rpm?

I doubt he really ever goes that high. That turbo is falling out of power at 7500 as is.

When the engine was built all oil passages where smoothed and edges worked on - it has the Cosworth HP oil pump and pick up set up and a crank scraper

A few other small tricks on the oil system - nothing major

I dont have an oil pressure gauge so I have no idea how much pressure its making

The turbo is out of lungs - the fmic is probably too small - after 8,000 the power is begining to fall down 100% for sure

I have held the revs over 9,000 rpms many times though and nothing has happened

Over the winter, I am looking to do the turbo upgrade I mentioned and a larger fmic so that I can allow the car to breath a bit harder at high rpms
