2005 sti Idle, Stall problems and Acceleration
Hey guy's this is my first post on here. Just have almost a full month with my STi and i Love it its the best car ever and plan on keeping mine for the longest possible.
So onto the problem Just today on my way to school, I left my house perfectly fine, then when on the highway in 6th gear I was going to pass a slower car and the acceleration on it felt weird, like if something was holding the car back. i downshifted to 5th still kind of did it then when i was in 4th the power was normal. and I was not using my AC. Then when arriving to my school, I stopped at a crosswalk to let people walk and my car idle fell to 0 and bounced up to normal then came down and car turned off. I then turned it back on and it started up back normal. then when i parked I stayed inside for a min and the idle kept bouncing and the car turned off again. Has anyone had this issue before? Mods on the car are: TurboX/s Bov, Aftermarket Catback, and CAI. and No check engine lights, or blinking cruise control lights showed up. can someone please help, and/or give me some idea's/thoughts to what you think might be the problem. Thanks

no, im not tuned. but its been running 100% fine. Our mechanic checked it the first week i got it and he said i was fine. he just suggested the stock bpv and a carb legal intake for smog regulations to not have problems.
ill check the Bov forsure. And also what i got yesterday is a Chirp coming from the engine bay. Looked up here on the forums and said its from the AC. Could that belt needing to be tightened be part of the problem aswell? |

Get rid of the bov and cai unless you're getting a tune.
Could it be this? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=781242 |

No vacuum leak. main thing i know forsure is my Bov causing the idle. and i think the Maf sensor is throwing the Cursie control to flash and CEL to turn on.

yess. at first it their was nothing going to my college. estimated 25 miles away highway driving. 3/4 way back the cruise control light started flashing. with the CEL. Idle is really bad now. is prbbly at 50 not even 100 and boggles/jitters and slowly pull to about 5-600.

idk why no one has torn you a new one yet.... you need a tune for your cai. read Unabombers Manifesto. Clean your MAF as well.

Will be replacing the intake with stock, aswell as the bov with a stock bpv. Maf was checked and it was fine. Also was checked for vacuum leaks and nothing. their was somthing electrical going on according to my mechanic. its running fine now how it used to be. but forsure taking the cai. the 1st owner put it just to put it. and Ive read in the forums that the stock airbox is good till 400hp.

First let me just say that you are on the right path by not choosing to drive it until it is fixed, swapping to an intake that you are actually tuned for, and getting rid of the turboxs bov. The turboxs valves are notorious for leaking, and a cold air intake without a tune can cause alot of issues if it flows more than the ecu can correct.
With that said... Quote:

When you checked the maf did you clean it with MAF cleaner? A lot of times they look fine but are really dirty.
Props for not driving the car with the issue. |

My mechanic also checked for a vacuum leak with if i remmbr intake cleaner?( am i right) it was some type of spray and he told me i didnt have one. he just believes its the cai because of more airflow throwing off the ecu, and the iddle problem from the bov.

hey guys, even if the Bov is 50/50. its the hybrid turbo Xs. can that still be causing the iddle problem? or only fully atomspheric bov cause that.
