RALIWGN: Don't all the Turbos have the Baja logo with the red "shadow" on the letters? I thought that was the super secret way to tell the turbos from the behind.

Yes, I'd be suspicious of it being in a crash.

BTW who did you pay to do the swap?? I do all of my own work.
Absolutely! I'm in Hillsburrito so only about 20 minute drive.

I wish I could do my own fab work.. But I am just a computer guy with little mechanical skills.

I did the vf39 swap and tgv deletes on my own but that was it. The swap was done at FTW Tuning in Eugene, OR. I went to them because they tuned my Baja when I first installed the vf39 and did a phenomenal job.

It takes some getting used to the six speed.. I seem to have to shift a lot but I love it.

I think we need a Portland Baja meet at some point.

I don't know... I'm relatively new to Bajas. I know a little more about my '04 WRX wagon, but I mostly know just what I learn when it becomes important to me, so if this is the case (red shadow), now I know.

At this point, I'm pretty sure it's been in a crash, but it seems to be well-repaired, as it's mechanically sound, everything seems to be straight except the passenger door's window not making a sound-tight seal around 80+, and the only thing missing appears to be the VIN plate... who the hell knows why someone would remove the VIN plate on a Subaru. Not like they're really a hot item for a chop shop. Anyway, I don't have any plans to sell it. I've owned it about a year & enjoy driving it, so I'm going to keep doing small upgrades here & there as money & time permits.

I did take it to our friend's body shop to have them check it for evidence of major body repair, and they said everything looks straight, all the gaps look good, but it's obviously been repaired - with Subaru stamped parts, so it could be worse. All the VINs match from the firewall stamping to the door to the plate on the dash. I'm going to take it in to the body shop later this week to have them do a minor rock chip dent fix on the front hood lip (starting to rust) & repaint & blend, so I'll ask them to put it up on the rack & check the rest of the body more thoroughly for alignment. Also going to have them fix the passenger window seal.

Thanks to those on the forum who helped figure out some of this stuff. Hopefully nothing else major will come up, but if it does I'll get it sorted out. The Baja is almost as fun to drive as the WRX, but the utility of the bed is definitely a benefit the wagon doesn't quite have.

If any of you are using romraider and ecu flash I have uploaded all of my maps for both my STI and baja turbo 5 speed on my dropbox page here. If you are using a "gameboy" for tuning I am really really sorry. :-)

I have also uploaded all of the service manuals for the baja in pdf form.

Enjoy!!!
