BE rear end link replacements
My pass side link crapped the bed so I need to replace them. Two thumbs down on ease of removal. The side of the link that is opposite the sway bar has a nut that comes off easy, but then you need to put a allen key in the end of the bolt to unthread it off of the mount. After a couple of years this allen socket is pile of rust and stripped right away. How am I supposed to get this thing out now? If I drill it I will loose the threads, but do I need them with aftermarket links?

I think it was fibuz who posted a great how-to thread on the subject.
There's supposed to be an allen hole in the end of the bolt that you put the allen wrench in to help get the nut off. sidenote: I never saw the hole and used a hack saw. took me an hour or so (dull blade) |

mah bad.
didnt see that part. well, you could hacksaw them out + replace the hardware. just make sure the bolts are the same diameter so you dont get any clunking when you go over bumps. my whiteline endlinks (rear) came with the hardware so i was ok. |

I'm in the process of swapping out my rear swaybar, and I'm replacing the links with OEM. They've got all the features of aftermarket, and they're metal, not plastic. Depending on your in with the dealer, you can score them for $18-$24, and the nuts are $1.75-$2.10 each.
Mine are so rusted that I'm just going to chop them off. NY winter salt has shown its wrath! |

Nitrohuffer: If you get Whiteline extruded rear links, they come with hardware.
LetItSnow: $18-24? & Metal? What dealership you getting parts at? I asked my dealership and for one thing, they were selling OEMs at $110 and for another they are plastic. But they don't use those anymore. If someone comes in with bad rear links, they toss in (at a lesser cost to parts dept AND consumer) Kartboy rear links. Which is the way I went, and he tossed hardware in. But I bought the front HD front Whiteline extruded links and they came with hardware. In all honesty, they weigh a touch more than the OEM plastic ones. Go figure! Aluminum vs. plastic. I'll take the metal and lower compliance bushing. GGT |

The ones that came off were metal and looked like a skinny dog bone with a rubber sealed pressed ball and socket set up. The aftermarket ones look way different.

Well, I had best just quietly walk out of the room. It seems as if FHI as changed some under bits and parts between the BD & BE.
My bad. |

Ah, you don't need to leave the room. But you should look up PolTec... they make some sharp endlinks that you might like, and even the pair won't cost you $110!

Alright, I'm still here.....but I ended up picking up the dealerships recommendation of the rear Kartboy droplinks for $100. No shipping, cause they are near work for me.
I did check the Poltecs and it would come out $3 less; so I'm not heartbroken over it. But thanks for the heads up.... again. GGT |
