Default autocross at college of lake county - grayslake next weekend

http://www.clcautomaniacs.com/module...2007&eventid=3

$30, i think $25 if you are actually going to clc. $25 if you have a miata. lot 5 (the big lot) get there 8:30-9am - wouldn't recommend showing up any later if you want to drive! if you want to watch then it would behoove you to stop there some time before 2... which is probably around when it will end.

helmets are required; you can use a motorcycle one, they will have some there available to borrow as well.

close toed shoes are required.

shorts are ok. jorts are even better.

you'll have to remove anything loose in your car (change, subs, corpses)

How many runs do you normally get it?

Usually a good showing of cars?

i've had up to 14, the miata club is actually organizing this, they just use the clc club to leverage the lot. i think they are capping at 12 runs this year. typically other clubs (bmw, audi, vw) do 6-8 runs. they have a decent showing of cars but not as many as the other clubs. which i have never fully understood actually. i would expect 35-40 cars.

since it's miata club, if you're not in a miata you won't get classed. there is non-miata, i think they actually have some rule like < 2.5 liters is x1, >= is x2, but it's not like scca indexing or anything.

typically are ~60ish seconds. i guess scca ones might be longer, or autocrosses they set up on road tracks around here (milwaukee mile, blackhawk farms, autobahn go-kart track - miata club has one coming up here)

those cones won't scratch or dent your car, how are you supposed to know when you hit twelve?

you don't hit cones it's not like gran turismo here's your line... if you hit a cone and knock it over or outside of it's box (no penalty if upright by somewhat inside box) then it adds 2 seconds to your final time.

no, car is fine. can put tape on it if you are concerned though. there are 3 run groups. you rest before you run, then you drive/run, then you work. work means you're out with a group of people at some corner station and if someone knocks down a cone, you call it in on a walkie-talkie and your group puts the cone back where it should be. at the end of your run they'll announce your time or put it on a display board/print it out, forgot how they do it but you'll be able to see each run.

Anyone who is even slightly curious about autocrossing should at least try it!!! Come and try it out, and see what your car can really do. It doesn't matter if you are stock or highly modded.
If you are anything like me... you'll be addicted after the first run!!!
