How much would say this cost you to outfit this immense sound blanket?

The trick was the chunk of wire to "push" it through...

AFA "other" stuff, it's not done...

CLD/CCF and maybe some MLV is next..

Really... how you figure?

Overkill? on what?

Do you even know what's happening? had a clue or taken the time to look at things before you decided to run your mouth?

If you had, you'd know I got every bit of Second Skin product, barring the Spectrum I JUST used, for nothing...

even then you STILL don't know what you're talking about... or if you DO, your not letting on, cause I've never seen you here before...

And I hope you got your product for nothing, because secondskin is a second tier company who's main goal is to get you to spend as much as possible. You got sucked into the bull**** ant spews and bought spectrum. Rubberized undercoating does the cld job better than that **** and won't cause the rust under it like your water based spectrum would. What's my experience? $150 wasted at ss. He ripped off cld tiles from don at sds and marketed them as an invention he came up with. I spent another $150 at sds and got a guaranteed better sound dampened vehicle than you have for three times the money.

I think we squashed this... Thanks..

I still think RAAMMAT is the best value for deadener. It seems right now the biggest drawback is Rick doesn't offer any kind of MLV. I ordered some of this stuff to check it out, it is super thick as I got the 1/4" stuff.

Aaron, what would you do with this if you had a roll of it laying around? Lay it on the floor?

Well, that's the thing, CCF doesn't do a lot... it's a decoupler use between CLD and MLV... but it's done wonders for my "echo" in the car...

I've covered everything though... I'd put it under the carpet myself... if you put it behind panels, you'll lose whatever gains you got due to the rest not being done...

I'm going to be doing RAAMMAT, and ensolite in the doors and then pick up some MLV from somewhere as well. I just don't think I can use the 1/4" stuff in the doors.

So just to be clear, I should mat the resonant panels enough that they don't resonate, then cover everything with CCF and then go over that with MLV? Is the CCF still "decoupling" even if it is glued down?

No actually this isn't over my head. Not knocking your work. You put a lot of time into it. All Im saying is you put too much in your car. That's all. It's unnecessary. Yes you will want to glue the ccf and mlv down.

Un-necessary for WHAT... that IS the question....

If you don't know, your just a Troll... dig...

If this was a DD, or of this WASN'T a show car, I wouldn't be doing this, but it's both and it might do some SQ comps if things come around...

Comp cars don't follow SDS... if you think they do, you are in over your head...

No no man, I used 1/8" material, and doubled it up... only on the outside of panels, on the underside, It's all typical 1/8" thick stuff...

I went thicker where I could... I also have Overkill Pro in there (3/8-1/2" thick to start)

And yes you are correct... if you follow something like SDS... you only need about 25% coverage to stop a panel from resonating...

Large open flat panels need more, bent convoluted metal needs less...

Once that's done, YES, it's overkill (sweet sweet overkill)

Then CCF to decouple and/or help with reflections... and finally MLV over to physically BLOCK sound, something the CLD can't really do...

Sorry, I was referring to the 1/4 stuff I have that I posted above.

I'm going to talk to Rick a bit before I make any more decisions. He doesn't sell MLV or any other products (as you know) because he says you can get all the same results with just his two products. When I used his products on previous vehicles I had good luck but I have never used MLV before.

I want to hear his side of the issue because you adamantly claim that Ensolite (CCF) doesn't block out noise but Rick thinks using his products in some fashion eliminates any need for MLV. At this point, given his experience and knowledge of the issue, I don't see why I wouldn't believe him.

It seems MLV could just be a product invented by people who sell these products to have another thing to sell you.
