Exactly, and he was all cocky and it's just like man I've never had a bike but I do have a Mom who's been a nurse for over 20 years and she used to work in the ICU...they called em donorcycles lol.

Right with ya. Shortly after buying my WRX hatch, I was asked if it was a Toyota. As I upgraded from a Toyota, I was not pleased.

And yes I don't expect anything out of salesmen, they are typically there because they can sell well, not because they are car knowledgeable.

If I were salesman:
I would get customer a lug nut off a new/used car that was in the lot, then replace it later, or the next day when parts dept was in.

I found the Top Gear episode (on netflix) last night of the '09 Hatch STI vs. the Mitsubishi EVO.

Season 11 episode 2 if anyone is interested.

Clarkson said the Subaru looked like a "Neutered bull pup" and a "smashed buttock" LOL

FWIW I drive a sedan

I had an elderly officer pull me over one time. I wast quite sure why because I wasn't speeding. Here comes this really old man, practically hobbling up to my car and he asks me why I was racing. I explained to him that I never "accelerated fast" nor did I speed. He said "Bull****, I heard your car. It was too loud to not be racing. (I have an SPT exhaust, not loud at all) We continued to go back and forth until he asked me to pop my hood, he wanted to see my "illegal mods." I obliged and pointed out to him that everything was within legal standards. He then tried to say that my turbo was illegal. I actually had to get my book and show him that it is stock. In a last ditch effort, he said that my vehicle matches the description of a suspected drug runner and wanted to start popping quarter panels off. I waved my hand and said "this is not the car you are looking for." He agreed and said "this is not the car I am looking for." He left me alone after that and we both went on our merry way. I've actually had a couple more runins with crabby police officers...

Your logical thought invalidates you working as a salesman, move along sir!

But, you DO drive a toyota. Lol.

(When I had my 10' WRX sedan) I was meeting a friend and told her I was parked on Main St. She said ya, I know I am standing next to your car. I looked in the rearview and she was standing next to a Camry.

"What kind of car is that? It looks like an audi" - About my 08 LGT.

It actually did happen. Well, bits and pieces. He pulled me over for being too loud and i pointed out to him that my exhaust was offered by subaru. Then asked me to pop my hood, I showed him the cat on the DP and he said good day. I never thought to raise anything because he looked pretty damn embarrassed afterwords.

Bits and pieces? That sounds nothing like the previous story

True, but embellishing a story usually makes it more interesting....

Had a semi-similar thing happen to me.

Got pulled over for going down a one-way street that was poorly labeled (my fault actually, I was looking to turn around). Got pulled over and the officer immediately had my out, patting me down and saying I was 'on something'. He said this over and over, saying he was going to take me to hospital for some drug tests if I didn't confess. I've never done drugs in my life.

After allowing him to search through the car, as I literally have NOTHING in my car for him to even look through, he let me go without a ticket even for the one-way street thing. This was after backup was called and two more cop cars showed up.

"That's a decent little car you got out there, for the price you paid at least. You'd do better in a little Nissan though." Referring to my first car, a loyale with a flawless body and strong engine with 155k that I paid less than $100 for.

Guy at work asked me if it was a kia(he actually said ikia lol). It's a bugeye so i get the neon comment alot due to headlight shape.

i live in a gated community, so i have to see the guard when i come home, the guard asks me, "what year is your car?" i reply, "2013." He says, "dang they made the new kia nice." i said, "What? It's a SUBARU!" The guard felt stupid and said, "Have a nice day sir."
I shook my head in disbelief...
