If you need to clear the fender and don't want to do more fender work, you're looking at camber plates as well.

Seriously - First off "front", "rear", or "both"? Confirm that it is the "wheel" or the "tire" that is making contact with "what location" on the strut housing. And why not funish your wheel (width and offset) and current alignment specs? Did it rub before? Are these new wheels or tires of a differnt size than before? Did you change the suspension recently? If you want useful suggestions then offer up some extra info......

Not as serious - Don't drive the car and it won't rub anymore.

Big tire for sure. I have that size on 11wrx and it's fine. for 02-07wrx, it will rub.

should bought 245-40-17 instead.

Its rubbing on the the upper shock plate that houses the spring, rubs both front and back

I just have the tires laying around and need a quick wheel tire swap for a trip but they look so good I would like to do some suspension work to avoid further rubbing

Its the tires rubbing in the front and back on the lower-side of the top of the shock or spring housing

Trust me, you're doing more damage than good trying to get these to fit. I know because I briefly ran a set of tires this large on my 02. Your wagon has even less clearance than my sedan, and while the tires did look good (very meaty) they are too tall, and ruin the final drive ratio of the car. You should have noticed that it feels slower than usual. Do yourself a favor and source some 215/45/17 or 235/40/17 tires. If you can't find those, 225/45/17 will work in a pinch (that's what I run, and what came stock on the 04-07 STI). Good luck.

This plus you're not going to feasibly fix that without changing the wheels and/or tire size. Don't waste effort on the trying to fix it via your suspension.

If it's really close to not rubbing, you can get 3mm wheel spacers.

245/45 is a pretty bad size for performance on the stock 2.0L unless you have a short ratio transmission or are using them in a situation you'll always be over 3500 RPM. It's also a difficult size to fit into the GD rear. 8" wide wheels work, may need a fender roll for high-ish offset, but 235/45 is a better size for 8" wheels. 9" wheels are much tighter. You need to be real careful about offset and fender clearance, as you have already noticed.

245/40 is a full inch smaller diameter, essentially the same diameter as stock. It fits better and is a better height for gearing as well, so most who want 245 will choose 245/40.
