First attempt at a .gif image of the before and after with the interior. It's 3mb so it'll take a minute to load.
Hopefully it works!

Thanks, it was working on my browser but I wasn't sure if it would work.
What a fun project to learn while I was supposed to be working

Hey Jason, (I mean your eminence)
Can we anticipate an install guide for the Pioneer Z140BH?
I had resigned myself to the stock unit until you guys started carrying on about the Pioneer's. I like the Z140 as well and would hate to have to pay an installer. I'd rather just come here to my source for all things DIY!!!

Said it before, and I'll say it again...
You, your build and this thread are so much appreciated... Thanks again!

Hey Man, how you've been? Nice to here from you.
I'm working on all the pieces for the Z140 now. I got the JDM dash piece, ASWC, harness from David at AE64.com, iPod cable, Sirius tuner and the Back up camera. All I need is the radio hahaha (on it's way too)

I got the ND-BC5 Pioneer camera, seems nicer than my Alpine piece. The image quality was nice but it only lasted 2 winters. This one at least looks like it's really built well and sealed a lot better, we'll see

I just got it in today so I'll snap some shots tonight, it's the same as the oem piece but the cutout is smaller.

I can't decide if I want to cover it in Alcantara. I've seen it done and I'm not a huge fan. I think I'll leave it alone for now

Thanks, I'll check out the camera. I'm in the process of gathering parts for my install as well.

I have the USDM Forester Nav bezel that is cut to double din (7") size. Looks just like the 2011-2012 WRX piece, but smaller opening, just as said above. The cool thing about it is you don't have to order it from a JDM supplier--you can order it from the dealership parts counter.

P/N: 66065SC130

I also picked up the USB A to USB A plug that goes in the center console so I don't have to drill a hole to run my iPod cable in there. It replaces the stock one which has a proprietary plug on the underside. This one is just a USB pass-through type of deal.

Sweet deal with the USB plug, I'll need to pick that up too!

So I just checked the dash piece I got and it's the same part number as the one you listed above. Isn't that the JDM piece?

Everythings good. Baby just turned 1 and the golf game is suffering, but all is well. We were in Old Orchard for about 3 days at a family reunion mid August. Is that close to where you are? Would have loved to connect and check out your Subie in person, but time was tight.
Loving my car and slowly, but surely, trudging along with the mods:
Wheels and tires, mudflaps
Sways
Short shifter/bushings
Tranny mount and x-member bushings
Once the motorcycle sells, some minor performance mods
And now, of course, a NEW HEAD UNIT!

Somehow, I knew YOU weren't gonna resist .
Really looking forward to the install guide as I begin to accumulate the necessary components. Keep up the excellent work bro.
Peace...

I'm not sure about that one. It's possible that folks are selling the USDM part as 'JDM' and have been for a little while.

Sounds like you're nice and busy too! Sorry about the headunit, I totally shouldn't be buying anything with a wedding and new house around the corner...
Old Orchard is so nice, glad you are there, it's still a couple hours away from me so the timing would be hard. I'll be sure to make a write-up for the install, the race is on between getting the radio in or my house closing on time this week, only one is going to happen.

Hey Michael, no worries.
I didn't have to roll the fronts at all for the 18x9 +35 it fits perfectly and doesn't rub at any point of the wheel well. The rear only had to be slightly rolled with the 255's but I went a little overboard and flattened and slightly pulled the rears while I was learning the tool.

That's crazy to hear that they would do that but it wasn't the case with mine, I just had a brain fart and was thinking that I got a JDM dash piece from SubaruGenuineParts.com (still a newbie I guess, lol)

Well, that was speculation on my part. If you were sold a 'JDM' piece but received the USDM piece, then that would have been my only guess. I figured I would take your word for it rather than tell you that you were wrong in typical NASIOC fashion. However, since you bought it from SubaruGenuineParts.com, then I would venture to say that we have the exact same USDM Forester nav double din radio surround.

To buy the JDM piece, you would have to buy it from avojdm.com or JapanParts.com. Now that the Forester part is available, I see no reason to do that. Cheers.

EDIT, here are a few pics.

Oh okay thanks! Yeah, I wouldn't see any point to getting the real JDM either. I guess I though everyone was calling the Forester dash trim JDM so I was duped into thinking it was. Oooops...

David is working on an adapter lead for 3.5mm stereo. Not sure about video on this adapter; it is probably just stereo.

I took apart the stock USB/AUX piece in the center console and I have a feeling that I will be able to modify the circuit board to get the Pioneer USB and 3.5mm A/V ports into the factory cover without drilling. That way I can run video off of the iPod/iPhone.

The USB pass-thru would help a little but I'd still need to modify the AUX port anyway to get the Video to work off an iDevice.

Thanks for getting the idea going!

Are you running video off an iDevice on your radio? If so, how are your running it?
