I'd love to go this year. My goal is to get out there in the upcoming years. I went to Austin TX this year for the WEC race. I was lucky my dealer principal was able to get my Audi VIP hospitality tickets. I may have to talk to him about at this years Christmas party. We have Porsche, Audi, VW and I did work at Porsche for 4 years prior to moving to Audi. Audi talks about sending tech's to the 24... Worst case I'm going back to Texas this year to see Audi and Porsche.

This is tempting. Went to US Grand Prix and Petit Le Mans this year. Maybe I'll go to this next year. Or Monaco for their Grand Prix. Ahhh decisions.

The WEC is not on TV, but you can tune in online on FIAWEC.com The United SportsCar series will be on Fox1 or 2.

Audi's New Prototype Has Angry Red Headlights, Still Diesel

Audi has officially unveiled its challenger for Le Mans and the WEC next year, and boy does it look mean. The technical details can also be found after the jump.

Audi will continue to use a V6 turbodiesel engine, updated of course. They will also retain their system using hybrid power to drive the front wheels. Beyond that, much of the car is new, including a more powerful hybrid system that also harvests power from boost overpressure. The name isn't changing, though, the car will still be called the R18 e-tron quattro.

Audi will be joined by its gas powered factory competitors, Toyota with a naturally aspirated V8 and Porsche with a Turbo I4. Variety is good, and only time will tell which is best. Stay tuned for more details on the other cars as they're revealed.

I'm guessing Webbo can't be in another team's uniform because he is under contract until the end of the year with Red Bull? Hence the blank race suit when he tested and the suit above.

Considering something like 20 of the 24hrs has been aired live on the exact same channel that shows Nascar, for say the last 5+ years, you must suck at searching.

Allan McNish retires from racing

Three-time Le Mans winner and ex-Toyota Formula One driver Allan McNish has retired from top-level motorsport.

McNish raced one season in Formula One with Toyota in 2002 after a year testing with the team ahead of its debut. By that time he was already a Le Mans 24 Hours winner (in 1998 with Porsche) and had tested with McLaren and Benetton as well as racing in F3000.

When he left Toyota he tested for a year with Renault before returning to sports cars in 2004 with Audi. He raced for the team for 10 consecutive seasons, winning two more Le Mans 24 Hours (2008 and 2013) and three American Le Mans Series (2000, 2006 and 2007).

He retires as the reigning WEC champion alongside team-mates Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval.

"I've had fantastically successful time with Audi and feel it's the right time to step back from Le Mans sports-prototype racing and to look at other opportunities," he said. "As a racing driver it's important to stop [racing] at the right time when I'm still fast and capable of doing the job and the timing feels right after winning Le Mans for a third time this year and claiming the World title.

"This year especially was mega successful, teaming up with Loïc [Duval] for the first time and obviously with long-time co-driver Tom [Kristensen]. We've ticked all of the boxes and I ticked my personal ones too but now the time is right to hand over to the young guys.

"I've won the championships and races I wanted to win and frankly there's no better way to end my Audi sportscar race career than going out as a world champion. My fellow Scot and mentor Jackie Stewart knew when to get into things but also knew when to get out and he has taught me that lesson."

I just came here to post that.

Can he see an end to Audi dominance, with Porsche coming next year and rumors of Nissan in 2015.

There's a small chance I'll be in France for work the following week and could go early to make the race. Anyone else going keep posted here.

A little secret for anyone that ever gets to go, you have to seek out Auberge des hunaudieres for viewing along the Mulsanne. Hard to get to but worth it.

I just wonder if he's reached his peak. He's a very decorated driver. He's also had a couple scary incidents at Le Mans in the past few years. I also wonder who will replace him? Will they call back on Rocky at least for the 24?

I don't think McNish or anyone in Audi's camp is scared of Nissan.
