I want 300hp from a 05 wrx 2.0
I just purchased a 05 wrx 2.0. Has a cold air intake, hks bov, and 3" exhaust, added some hp. What upgrades can I do to get it up to 300hp?Any links? From minor to major upgrades so I can move along on this project and decide. Thanx

If you want 300 to the crank, that's fairly simple. What you have if it's Stage 2 is about 300CHP after you tune for it. If you want 300WHP, you'd want a bigger turbo, injectors, and fuel pump.

injectors, larger top mount, vf39 turbo, upgraded fuel pump, a tune, and get rid of the BOV you will actually improve on perfromance if you do

11. So if I am making the same boost pressure, why does it matter if its leaking a little? --Because even if you are hitting target boost, your turbo is having to work harder to get there. A harder working turbo produces a hotter air charge, as its higher in its efficiency range (or worse, completely out of it). This means less dense, which will produce less energy when ignited. This also means higher chance of detonation, which even if its very light, will result in your ECU pulling timing. Also bad. Lastly, hotter air in=hotter air out. Higher EGTs. Even if only slightly. = less performance! |

300 whp or 300 hp? All the mod recommendations in this thread so far are completely meaningless without know which you want.

300hp. What does everyone think about the Cobb stage1? STI injectors ok for upgarade, plug and play? Walbro fuel pump? To get it tuned just any dyno shop will do? And what does flash ecu mean, tune? If not can we flash ecu ourselves? Thanx guys

Well, my advice is: Stop trying to spend money and start researching. Do so for several months without spending a dime. To be honest at your stage you are asking for a train wreck.

Cobb Stage 1= Completely stock WRX, Accessport stage 1 flash. Cobb Stage 2= WRX with turbo-back exhaust, Accessport stage 2 flash. With the mods you have right now(how your car is exactly this second) you would benefit most from a dyno tune. Also, you don't need a BOV. The factory BPV is good and will hold boost until about 22psi. EDIT I saw the update that you already went stage 2 and beyond. Good luck w/ the car. Last edited by gc822; 03-27-2011 at 07:00 PM. |

Byzatium! That's why people come here right?! To get advice from enthusist that have been thru this process "experience". Im grateful for you advice but I'm sure there has been others that have been thru this and have done it. Thanx crash I know what u meant. Well I'm going to look into it more. Cobb Stage 2 upgrade looks good. Anyone think it's not the right way? Should I just vf39, sti inj, fuel pump, sti intercooler, sound better? Will a different stage clutch make a difference? Thanx

No, STi pinks are not "plug and play." FOR 300 CRANK HP: Catless up-pipe, catless turbo-back exhaust, ECU tune FOR 300 WHEEL HP (stretching): Catless up-pipe, catless turbo-back exhaust, VF30/34/39 turbo, STi "pink" injectors, STi (or larger) TMIC, Walbro pump, ECU tune FOR 300 WHEEL HP (easy 300): Catless up-pipe, catless turbo-back exhaust, EVO316G, 650cc injectors, STi (or larger) TMIC, Walbro pump, ECU tune. To answer your inevitable question: No. A generic turbo from eBay is NOT a good idea. General advice: No one likes loud BOVs anymore. It isn't 1999. Last edited by CKxx; 06-13-2010 at 09:40 PM. |
