Default DRL on STI HID?

Few things I am wondering about:

1. What does the STI use for daytime running lights?

2. With the 04/05 STI projectors running in a 2005 WRX, i believe it is possible to have the low-beam HID to run as "DRL" by simply replacing the dropping resistor with a straight jump and leaving everything else connected as is. can anyone verify this? however this method means the low beam HID will be running all the time.

3. Is it somehow possible to rewire it so that the dropping resistor activates the high-beam bulb? I think the high-beam operating in that mode should work decent as DRLs, but i don't have a wiring diagram of the car to figure out what exactly would need to be done.

04/05 STi in the US don't have daytime running lights. in 06/07 they run low beams on all the time. I'm not sure about the 08+.

no DRL for the 04/05? i thought it was mandatory, or at least here in Canada.

i found a thread that said the 07+ Legacy uses high beams at half power for DRL, haven't confirmed this but it would be what i would like to do also.

that's why i'm trying to figure out how to get working properly.

surely someone has re-routed the stock DRL wiring to the high-beams?

Can someone confirm if replacing the DRL resistor in the engine bay with a straight, un-resistored, connection will make the low-beam HID operate as DRL?

The dealership installed DRL for my US-spec STi, and have them turning the low-beams on (HIDs).

Initially it drove me crazy that they didn't use the high-beams (like many other cars), but I don't mind as I will be installing HIDs into the high-beams.
