Default I need to get away from GoDaddy and I need to do it fast. Please help.

I won't go into details, but lets just say GoDaddy takes the newish ICANN policy regarding false whois info a bit too seriously. I use fake whois info because frankly I don't want some jerk-off taking the internet too seriously and screwing with me at home.

I don't mind using the real info so long as its hidden/private/handled by one of those third parties who use their information.

In a nutshell I need to change from godaddy to someone who either doesn't give a crap about this retarded policy (it really does nothing IMHO), or someone who does the whois info masking. I do NOT (repeat NOT) have any sites hosted with GoDaddy...just have the domains registered there.

I need advice like kinda quick. Please and thank you!

EDIT: I don't mind "shady" as long as it works and won't get me blacklisted

godaddy allows you to use the third parties. I use that for several of my domains with them.

them charging me $10 to send me an email telling me someone bitched about my whois info is exactly the reason why I don't care if godaddy does it or not.

well i think the rule is going to be enforced elsewhere as well. pay the 6.99/yr for private registration if you want your information private.

i might add that i actually used business registration there, so my info is readily available via the link at the bottom of the registration, but it stops the first mining step. Business registration is 6.99 iirc and private registration is 8.99....

yeah i don really understand how they randomly charged you 10 bucks cause yer whois info was wrong?

I've actually migrated 3 domains to them because their interface actually works. I had a couple domains with totalnic/pacnames and could never change the address of the domain's dns servers because their interface sucked massive donkey balls. Godaddy works MUCH better.

ok that might not work. one of the sites is a game-related site and the people posting rag on each other constantly. there are pretty much no rules except no child/illegal porn and no animal abuse images/movies/whatever.

The don't allow people to register sites thru them if it contains harrasment, threatening, etc so thats out. I'll try it anyways and if they tell me to **** off then so be it

yeah i love godaddy's interface, and the charge is because I "agreed" via contract that when people complain, they can charge me $10 to send me an email that someone complained. I don't remember seeing that **** in there anywhere but I probably overlooked it. Its kind of a gay charge but hey..whatever makes them money i guess

honestly, your best result is to just use the private registration... there won't be anyone out there that is going to come out and say they WELCOME sites that encourage harassment. Just make sure you use the private reg and not the business reg. private reg is 100% private, no information available whatsoever unless something illegal goes down (which includes spam...)

I had someone be a douche when we had actual information posted for WhoIs on a website we have.

GoDaddy offers some domains by proxy thing that we switched to. I dont think there was any charge for it...but I can't remember for sure.

Now a whois search shows:

Its all set up and I'm happy.

Odd twist...I'm sitting here whining on about them charging me $10. Then I give them another $21 (with a knot in my stomach thinking I'm giving in). So they made $31 off me today.

2 minutes ago someone sent me a paypal donation for $50. Thats ****ing A W E S O M E.

Now I need to figure out who it was so I can thank them!
