Default question about emissions

I was wondering how does emission testing work in MA in regard to 4wd vehicles? Since no place that does inspections has a 4wd dyno. The bottom line is can inspection be passed if someone is running a catless exhaust system?

Most likely you won't pass catless. If you have 4wd-Awd here in mass you are exempt from the dyno, they typically just do he sniffer test.

I don't think they even do a sniffer test. They do a visual check under the car for cats, then they just hook up the OBDII port, and if no CEL come up you pass.

I thought the same thing, however my cousin has a forester and they did a sniffer test on it (few years old now) ... Mines brand new, so that's probably why I only had the OBD test, we'll see what happens this year ... Also, correct that they can't dyno it, just a plug and play OBD check along with visual for cats ... Wonder if anyone knows there's supposed to be a pre-turbo cat on my car? ... Hopefully not ...
