2 of the most notable Philly/South Jersey driving traits:

1) When people pull out of a shopping center/side street/whatever, onto a major road and then do not hit the gas- they just allow the car to cruise. Traffic traveling at 40-60mph catches up REAL fast

2) A complete inability to merge properly. I have seen people clearly willing to crash into the car in front of them- as is evident by them gunning it in bumper to bumper traffic- rather than allow someone to merge into their lane and get in front of them

THIS.

Last week I saw a lady merge onto RT. 72 ( 3 lanes.) She STOPS, puts her left blinker on, and waits for an opening in traffic. That's how accidents are caused.

CSibbs,
Where is a cop when you need one? If she was on the island, I know a cop would have seen her. I can't believe how built up 72 is on the east bound between GSP and 9.

Sincerely,
WEB

Two drivers going wrong way in front of me:

1) Tues afternoon in the Bronx (one way street).

2) Thurs night West Side Hwy 72nd st. SB taffic circle. Woman driver didn't understand how to use traffic circle and went left instead of right.

Nope. Our 911 operator doesn't ask that anymore. Considering she was doing 40 and I passed her doing 65, she passed me when I was pulled over. What I really wanted to say to the trooper was "hey, moron, that lady was talking on her phone, I was only trying to get to school by doing the speed limit."

Just buy some flashy blinky lights. Everyone turns to mush when they see them. My work truck, in which I do most of my highway travel thankfully, has tons of them. If you could only see the "oh ****" look on their face.

I love when your making a turn or about to making a turn at a stop sign and the person coming from your left or right purposely speed up and come within inches of hitting you. It's like they want to crash into you

Driving at 50 mph and seeing the girl in front of you swerve to avoid a squirrel = FAIL

Yeah, I know right?
And just wait till summer. It's going to be much worse. But hopefully the high gas prices will keep some people away.

$4.07 for premium at the Shell.

Same thing. I was driving on the Grand Central service road headed westbound in the left lane when the truck in front of me completely unexpectedly slammed on his brakes and came to a stop. Luckily I stopped in time behind him and didnt have to swerve to the right lane because out of nowhere a 40 something year old woman comes driving down the right lane going the wrong way doing about 30.

Scary thing was that she was laughing as she drove by me....not even nervous like "Oh ****, I'm driving the wrong direction on a very busy 2 lane road" , or "I'm sorry, I'm an idiot." Just this dumb looking big grin. Creeped me out.

I am well past $4.07. I probably pay that for regular up in CT. I paid $4.23 when I was up in Hartford for the weekend and it is significantly cheaper to buy gas up there. I think Stamford is close to $4.40(highest grade 92/93 depending on station).

I think the high gas prices will cut down on the webbies.

Back on Topic:
WTF PA drivers, fast lane is not for sunday cruising on the Merritt. Check your mirrors and gas is on the right.

Dear Mass hole,
Really should consider how much room you have before cutting over. I hope that you liked when the PA driver(see above) did the same to you a minute later going much slower than us.

Is anyone else already noticing WAY more small maintenance issue like brake lights and headlights out since they don't do safety inspections anymore? I feel like I am but I could be wrong. I feel like I have never seen so many cars with only 1 of three brake lights working as I have lately.

^^^ This
plus some Hondas or old Lexus with improper HID modification blinding the crap out of me.
Also, I see a lot of cars with ONE headlight pointing upward. I'm guessing bodyshop don't bother aligning headlights anymore?

Yea the idiots with the hid kits in lights with tons of haze on the lenses kill me every time. Especially with the fog we've been having lately, makes it impossible to see anything in front of you besides a wall of white when they're right next to you.

And I have to agree about the people with no headlights on, they must not be paying attention at all to notice that they can't see anything in front of them.

And the brake light people. I can't stand how many people have 1 or 0 brake lights working. It's just waiting to cause an accident.

Default rear view drivers

It seems like 50% of the people I drive behind watch their rear view more than the road ahead of them. I keep at least a car length, I rarely go over 3rpm if a car is in front of me. Unless there driving with there windows down and radio off I still don't think they can hear me. WTF is wrong with them, I usually give them some amount of time before I beep. But that don't help, f8*9ers end up brake checking me, which don't make sense I'm over a car length away d1@ks.

Other infraction aside, ever think that your part of the problem riding someone's ass 25' off their bumper.
If you did it to me, I would start emptying my washer fluid.

How fast you going?

Since this was bumped. Last Sunday I was driving home from getting gas and a cop started to follow me. Not sure where he came from but I was about a mile from my house and he pulls me over. He said my drivers side front wheel went over the double yellow. Which it did not, because I knew he was following me. Then he asks me if I had anything to drink. I'm 19 so the answer was no. Then he tells me to have a nice night. I know for a fact I didn't cross the double yellow and I was going the speed limit. It annoys me that he pulled me over. He made a bad day even worse. Just my little rant.

I got a ticket for this years ago. I went home from college for the weekend to visit my parents and was the only wrx/sti in that po dunk town. I made a left turn on a green arrow with 4 other cars. Got pulled over right after the light. I asked him what I was pulled over for and he didnt have an answer. He didnt have an answer for me until he came back from his car, probably thinking about what he could get me for. He was fishing for more but my car was 6 months old and still stock. I lived right around the corner and have made that turn 1000 times, I asked him if we was serious when he told me about the yellow line. Even he knew it was stupid.

A Honda civic auto wagon with a melon launcher and hids in headlights and fogs kept trying to race me on the way to work yesterday.
