As per the Delaware folks, may just need to do a Caravan. You can follow the tow rig out if we decide to lug the rally car. Just look for the plumes of diesel smoke.

hey all I'll be - once again - teaching Intro Drive School on Saturday. There will be an advanced drive school option. Day of you simply say "I want to join Intro or advanced drive school".

Schools begin at 9am!

A few topics covered in the Intro sequence:

+ history of WDCR RX
+ Night before camp/hotel accommodations
+ Prepare for a full day outside
+ What's avail at SP
+ How to get involved with mid-atlantic stage rallies
+ All volunteer and your part
+ Why the track and event is formatted as it is - sanctioning requirements
+ Review of event format
+ Useful car mods
+ Course strategies
+ Turn physics
+ Walk a course and discuss what to do and where/when
+ Practice starts and long radius and 90 degree and slalom.

and then plenty of seat time in the PM for practice and ride alongs and ride withs.

There is the one guy who came out to a couple last year in his e92 Xi, he said he's coming back. But I was talking about a couple B5 Audis (plus Gorka's rally Audi).

I think all of the e30 guys are all rear-drivers.

So Maggie Stiefvater just posted on the yahoogroup. She has an Evo (among other cars and rallycars). If you don't know the name (she is a celebrity), google is your friend. She is codriving in Rally America and her husband is driving another car. Enthusiast new rallyfolk that live near SummitPoint.

If I get the seasons pass does that include the track time after the drivers school (on the Sat. before)?

Is all you need for the whole season a weekend membership? About to sign up.

Edit: Also the SCCA class definitions page seems to be down, having modified turbo hardware puts me in the M4 category, right?

As to the first question, the rules state a valid membership, but does not specify the type, HOWEVER, you don't get a valid membership # with a weekend membership and you need an SCCA # to register.

What's weird is I tried, and it gave me a weekend membership number before I even got to pay, and then it told me it expired on 3/15, lol.

Close to 15,000 I think.
We made it as far south as Guatemala City then turned around.
Rather than come home we went to the west coast and toured Oregon, NV and AZ for a bit.
We made it back to VA a few days ago.

It was a great trip with only minor mechanical problems including bad front swaybar endings (thanks again for the help getting them fixed), a bolt that came loose and destroyed the timing belt cover and the car started consuming a lot of oil but seems to have stopped now.

Looking forward to the first RX event!

I might go down to Sandblast to volunteer. Won't know for sure 'till that Friday though.
Maybe I'll see you there.

I picked up a bunch of stuff in Oregon and bought a tailer to bring it all back on.
I don't need it now. It would be a good trailer for someone to haul tires/tools/camping gear to RX or other event.

For anyone looking for a new RX car here is what appears to be a good deal on a '99 2.5RS

FYI, me and some others will be teaching the advanced class. We'll be going for rides throughout the instruction with the students in their cars to show them these techniques.

Basics review:
RallyX classes
Hand-positioning
Reading the surface
Judging distance to objects
Braking: ABS, threshold braking
Correct "Rally Lines"
Understeer/Oversteer - How to induce/recover
Handbrake Turns - Enter hairpin

Advanced:
Correct Lines for various situations
Left foot braking
Lift-off oversteer
Powerslide
Scandanavian Flick
Recovery from bad situations
Going for a ride with an experienced rallycrosser
