As for why it spun a bearing, I don't know if it was my tune (TP Stage 3) or issues with oil that killed the bearing. I doubt it was the oil as I did my own oil changes every 5K with Subaru's oil and filters and I always the checked the level every other time I filled up the gas tank and it never really burned any. I think it's time to change to Rotella 5w40 with the new motor.

Any recommendations for pistons? I have my choice of JE, CP, or Wiseco.
Powertrain warranty goes until 5 years/50,000 miles. To my knowledge tunes dont really cause spun bearings, thats a lube problem, a possible cracked pickup.

From what Ive read JE seems to be a solid cost-effective piston. Up to personal preference though. Enjoy the built motor!

Yeah I'm personally a fan of the chrome on WRB, PBP, ISM, and SWP cars.

I had always planned to go with a mild built motor somewhere down the line, this just kinda forced me into it now.

You only changed your oil every 5K and used subarus ****ty oil, and you don't think oil had to do with it... You should be changing your oil every 3000miles, and should have been using rotella 5w40 from the beginning!

As for pistons, CP seems to be the way to go

My original plan was to get the 2011 housings for mine. Then, the chrome sorta grew on me. It definitely defines the light more, visually, if its in chrome.

The chrome lights in the front are also what made me decide to keep the chrome on the rear too, love it or hate it.

Found your problem... (Rotella would be a good choice)

Also, if it were me I'd do JE's - but obviously all are reputable brands. Ask your tuner/builder what they think.

you car is silver right? then its a toss up, and all depends on which direction you want to go with the car but silver is the only color that can pull off the chrome headlights IMO.

I actually think red can pull off the chrome headlights but silver isn't too bad either.
