Default Repaint Radio Trim bezel question

I want to repaint the bezel that's around the radio/headunit on my 05 STI (i think it's the same color as 04-07), because it has a few nicks and scratches on it. Is there any off the shelf (such as from a local hardware store) spray paint that is the same as the factory color? If so, which brand and color name?

nope... the new Duplicolor "stainless steel" is pretty close, but it dries totally matte/flat.. so you might want a semi-gloss clear over that.

Take the part to your local automtive paint supplier, have them mix you up the smallest quantity of interior paint they can , probably a pint, then ask for a Preval sprayer. Apint will be pre mixed, ready to spray. It will cover the radio bezel, the upper vents and anything else you want that color in the interior.

www.preval.com is the home sprayer

I used the duplicolor wheel paint on my '07 and while the job was rushed and in the winter - am happy with the results

Pretty close match to the '07 stock radio - let me know if interested and I'll throw a few pics up on pbotobucket

Regards,

SEM makes a silver that's suppose to be spot on. Search, there are many threads on it.

I really like the factory grey/silver (whatever that color is).

I used the Duplicilor High Performance wheel paint - the color is CHWP10200 High Performance Graphite

As noted - it is not an exact color match. Previous owner must have applied / stuck items to the surround and bezel as there was much cosmetic damage - missing paint, scratches, etc

I did not try to match - I pulled the whole center out and painted everything - so it all matches in my car

Just to be crystal clear - is not matched to original finish

Regards,

I'm going to be painting my interior bits this weekend, hopefully, and will be using the SEM products, their sand free #38363 and I chose one of their metallic titanium's for the color. If I don't like it then I will go over with the duplicolor wheel paint like Bill in Mtl. I'll try and post up some pics as well. Thanks again Bill in Mtl!

Came out great. Lightly sanded, and did 2 light coats, I did each coat while "wet", coats 3 & 4 were heavier to insure a smooth, even coating.
I had two little bumps from some rouge dust!

Does anyone know if this is the same color for the 2008 STI's Radio bezel? I don't mean the silver portion i'm talking about the Gray color on the bezel. I just got the 2013 TomTom radio bezel from the local dealer to with my aftermarket HU and the gray is darker than the earlier interiors. So i was thinking about painting it.

this is a good thread, I've been thinking about doing the same. Does anyone know of any aluminum trim to replace that high class plastic for our cars? My buddy's been replacing a lot of his plastic interior with brushed aluminum trim and it looks amazing (on a r32 vw)

I was able to compare the two Bezels in the sun light and they are close enough to keep me from painting them. Thoughi would still like to learn the color. Be cause i hate the silver trim in the sti and the cheap silver trim paint chips off all the time. So i may paint those parts gray.
