How do you confirm the integrity of points on each car?
What if the built motor doesn't provide any additional horsepower benefit? What about brakes? Upgraded TMIC? Does a pro-tune count as "standalone ECU"? Camber plates? |

So what do you all think should be the points penalty for a Bigger than OEM Brake Setup?? Last edited by Extremespeedtrkevent; 02-14-2012 at 01:36 AM. |

With the OEM ECU, you can have either "off the shelf" tune such as ones from a Cobb AP or a pro-tune. The latter almost always yields more power and better useable powerband. I paid for a built motor in my car but it was built to OEM specs. I blew a stock piston and rebuilt it with just new forged pistons, rods, bears, and studs. Near identical power output but just more reliable. Camber plates allows for more aggressive alignment settings = more grip. As for brakes, I think all WRX and STi's with OEM Brembo's should be zero points. All WRX's with the inadequately tiny stock brakes should be maybe -1.50? All other aftermarket brakes that are an upgrade from the OEM Brembos should be +1.0? or so. What do you think? |

Hi Dutchoeven,
In my opinion, brakes are a safety item. It should be a free mod. I currently have stock oem evo 9 brembos that are now black in color. So I have nothing to gain from this. You are all free to upgrade your brakes for free. WRX/Ralliarts already have a -1.5pt handicap or base starting point. If we gave you another -1.5pt, then you would have -3pts and you technically don't have to do your brakes. Then after the brakes, you can argue about suspension, turbo, etc...and want more deductions. The point of the -1.5pt handicap in the first place is we DO realize you are starting off at a disadvantage. Hence, free brake upgrades and 1.5pts to play with to make it on par with a bone stock sti/evo. Yes, camber plates are free. As long as you are on stock ECU, you wont take any pts. So people with MOTEC, AEM, and other stand alone ecu's would take 1pt. Again my 2c. Glad you are interested in the series. Please spread the word to other Subie track people who are interested and/or who track their cars already. |

With built engines, they are able to handle more boost and timing as compared to a stock oem engine. They can also be more reliable and with the possibility of handling more timing and boost, you could say they gain some sort of power over a stock oem engine. I have a 2.0L built engine. I would take 1pt hit for it, even though it was rebuilt to stock specs. It is rated to handle more power than an oem engine. This doesn't mean it won't blow up or have engine failures or be immune to those.
There is also no way to tech/ensure/validate/enforce who has and who doesn't have built engines. So anyone with a built engine regardless of displacement would take 1pt hit. This DOES require an Honor System for it to work. Just don't lie and don't cheat. No one likes a liar and a cheat, especially if one gets caught. |

No power to weight restrictions. If you want that, maybe NASA appeals to you. We try to cater to everyone's diff approach to modifications. Just use the points to class yourself accordingly. Right now, its for Evo/STi/Wrx/Ralliart (AWD Cars). If Foresters and other cars want to play, we can work something out. Mitsubishi/Subaru Challenge or something. We would have to work out the base points for the Foresters. Maybe -2pts base? I dno.
