Let's bring this thread back on topic, we are talking about 18G-XTR perfomance here. For more on the X-pipe / PnP discussion I opened this thread, please go there to continue the discussion.

Interesting I have a 07 FXT too and planning to drive to Cobb TX from TN for the tune. However, I will wait till seeing your results I am on the fence vs the Dom 1.5 XTR. I would suggest you get two maps a DD (<18psi) and a Weekend Douched Bag (>21 psi).

Yeah I'm stoked! It's nothing but agony waiting for your build to get done lol.

Man I thought driving from Arlington to Plano was far!
The end of February would be the absolute latest it will be done but should be before that. This is my daily driver so I wanted a turbo that spools close to the VF turbos, but with a much wider/linear power band. IMO I think with the FXT 4.44 ratio & 6500 redline, the 18G would be a better match than the 1.5XTR. But you're right on the maps; even though I'll have forged pistons I'll run less boost for daily driving and have a higher boost map for when I want to go faster or whatever you called it .

Just for discussion, here is a dyno graph comparison of two different 2.0L wrx's at Cobb Plano:

Red wrx - 18G-XTR
Blue wrx - 18G-XT

Too many variables to explain why the red spools faster than the blue, but let's hope it's the turbo doing all that .

I would imagine our 2.5L with AVCS would spool this turbo 300-400RPM faster (guess) and make a good chunk more power. For my needs, that would be plenty of power daily driving and my annual track day. I don't want full spool at 4000RPM, regardless of top end power.

Just my .02

I'm no expert at ALL, I have a lot to learn, but from driving the Forester and making observations:

RPMs run out FAST with our tranny (I hate it actually). A good example is first gear; let's face it that first gear is practically useless. Under normal driving conditions you move about 5 feet before shifting into second at about 3-3.5k. I have no doubt in my mind the 18G-XTR will reach full boost by the latest of 3.5K which would give a very usable/linear 3K powerband. The 1.5-XTR should have full spool around 4K which would give a more "peaky" 2.5K powerband. I just think a bigger space under the curves = better fit.

Because of conflicting information from Blouch's site and one of their technical reps on the phone, I decided to go with the 18G-XT 8cm. It should be installed and tuned by the 1st week of February. I'm so stoked!

I was looking at the 18g xtr due to how fast it was able to spool with supporting mods (due to the dyno I found). Has anyone else had similar results the the below?

http://efilogics.com/dyno/ --> Subaru 2008 STI Jay Gonzalez (sorry I can't deep link to it)

With headers, intake, 850cc, he's making 300tq at 3k rpm @ 18 psi. Which is super impressive. Perhaps it would spool even faster with a turbo inlet? Either way, is this normal or a freak car?

^That's not an 18G-XTR, the XTR was just released in December 2011, that pull is from July 2010.

Why would you be cross shopping the 18g XTR and the dominator 1.5xtr, The dominator is a larger turbo than a 20g of course it's going to spool later. I was originally interested in the 18G XTR until I found out that it would fall well short of my 350 WHP goals on 93 octane, while the Dominator will make that power and much more but it will sacrifice some spool and make a ton of torque at low Rpms.

This is with a 16G and then again with a hybrid setup. Check out the difference in those torque curves!
Id like to see this guys charts with an 18G-XTR! id imagine it would be pretty decent!

Uhhh? contradicting, since it sacrifies spool how it will make a ton of torque at low rpms?

Def holds power longer than vf52, lets see some people hit the track with blouch 18g's. I vote for el header especially if you love torque. $600 with up pipe...boxer sound is over rated

I had an 18g xtr put in last week. My tuner left it wide open to warm it up an he's ganna lean on it tomorrow. I'll post the dyno this week.

Running:

Cobb AP
Cobb air intake w heat shield
Cobb turbo back exhaust
Process West TMIC

I'm aiming for just over 300whp on his mustang but it's known as the "heartbreaker". Seems to be 5-10% lower than everyone else's. Anyway right now the boost I not great but I think after tomorrow it will be where I want it. We will see. Please let me know at hat rpm you guys are seeing peak TW and HP. Thanks.

If all goes well I should be picking up the car tomorrow. Keeping the stock intake and running a Sti muffler will hinder the car from reaching ultimate power, but I'm sure I'll still be happy with it. I can't wait to pick it up!

this is the turbo i'm looking at. i just recently had a brand new sti short block with wiseco pistons installed with my stock 2.0 heads along with EL headers, tial 38mm ewg and supporting mods. i currently have a vf34 awaiting a tune on feb 25. i want to see more of this turbo before i go get one, but i'm pretty certain this will fill my desires lol

Yea I am thinking about ext wg, its about the last thing I can do. Expensive mod tho cause you have to buy up pipe along with ext wg

bump, need more curves to pull the trigger, so far does not sound like a great turbo, it has been discounted too -$50.00 which adds to my hesitation.
