Did half the exhaust today. Would have got more done but had to remanufacture an alloy race sump for a buick V6 powered holden speedway car.
Dash is also out as I had to reroute the heater pipes and pull some unused wiring back through the firewall. Pro Ratchet is in position. |

Mostly finished the exhaust. The rear section is only tacked until the diff goes in.

Have you considered lowering the subframe? The Outback has spacers between chassis rails and subframe and an extended steering shaft between steering column and rack.

Just needs 15mm out of the oil filler neck. It's really no big deal compared to the other challenges this swap has presented.

It's getting a 50mm alloy radiator and electric water pump controlled by the ecu via a solid state relay.

So what're you going to do about the oil filler neck?

are you going to move the air filters farther out, for fear of heatsoak? or are they going to stay that close to the block?

Did some more to the manifolds yesterday. Set up the bellcrank and 3 cables for the throttles.
The muppet that owns the car chopped up a spare subframe to allow the massive R230 diff to fit. Fits well, needs mounting plates welded in now. Then axles and driveshaft. |

Very fine craftmanship.....a thing of the past, for the most part. Good luck with the rest of it! S. |

subscribed, but the last picts don't come up, maybe tomorrow. My broadband is pretty slow. Interesting build.
My experience with 700r4's with a 350hp 400ftlb ramjet in a k5 blazer is not very reliable but the motor also shredded a 10 bolt ls carrier. I have a 63 4wd jeep truck with a 350 sbc using a 400th tranny and it has lasted forever. |

700r4? Did you not look at the fact its a TH400 with the entire bellhousing cut off to suit a Toyota A340 round bellhousing, which looks about 10 thousand times stronger. The box is freshly rebuilt...this will have 700ft/lb....
