With all due respect to Evanston Subaru, I MUST put in a good word for Grand Subaru.

Grand has taken care of me every step of the way. My car is arriving EARLY... and the price they gave me is unbelieveable. More importantly for me though, is the customer service. Dan D'andrea at Grand Subaru is the best salesman I've ever dealt with. Really cool and honest and down to earth. ALWAYS a straight shooter. BEST experience I've had, ever. I will only buy my cars from Grand Subaru going forward.

Look up Grand Subaru... they have ONLY POSITIVE reviews... Can't go wrong!

this whole situation is just stupid. If they are so worried about devaluing the car, give them to the people that really want them. Be honest with the customers, rather than telling them 6-8 weeks and then after 4 weeks saying "oh by the way you arent getting your car until february". The whole allocation system is assinine.Its just stupid that the car i am looking for is sitting on a lot elsewhere and i cant purchase it because of where i live. I honestly cant say at this point i would recommend subaru to anyone.

Joe and Dan D'Andrea are good people and I like them personally. Just wanted to put that out there. That is all.

I wholeheartedly agree with Lin and believe Grand Subaru has done everything possible to make my first car buying experience enjoyable! My salesman was Chris and he was a pleasure do deal with, no bs, and he knows the ins and outs of WRX's since he's owned one. I read all of the time that dealerships hesitate giving test drives with STI's. Not the case with me. I test drove 2 STI's and not once felt scrutinized for being a young buyer. If you want respect, you have to give people respect, plain and simple. I'm not here to get involved in a name-calling match. I'm just stating my personal experience. The price we shook hands on in August was the exact price we shook hands on in October. I look forward to do the same thing the next time I buy a Subaru.

Ya know, I only have one small experience with Grand and I was left a little disappointed. I walked in and wanted to check out a WRX in person and they had one sitting outside. A saleswoman came up and talked to me (not sure of her name) and opened the car up for me so I could have a look around and see how it felt. She asked a few questions and then started telling me how high of a demand there was for them (I believe it) and then told me she could only offer it at MSRP because "there's no point in discussing any price under that because somebody else will come in and I'll sell it for that price within the week anyway." Ooookay, I'm just having a look around lady. No need to swang your balls around right off the bat. I left and ignored her weekly calls for a few months. Then I saw Mike's thread on here and felt much more comfortable about moving forward with a purchase.

Not a big deal, they seemed friendly and everything. But, I'm happy things went the way they did.

Default Grand for the win

All I have to say is if you are going to buy a Subaru, gomGrand..I have 1 that is performance oriented and one that is not, grand is where I take them both for service, parts, and support That i don't handle myself. Got the wife's outback there a little over a year ago, and it was quite a pleasurable experience.....as opposed to where I purchased my sti almost a decade ago, 2005, and that is how long it has been since I have had anything good to say about another Subaru dealership......lets just say they have a history of terrible customer service and a habit of not paying off trade ins.

If you care about customer opinions, grand gets my vote all around. See Bill in sales and he will take care of ya! Joe in service will treat ya right, and Bobby in parts will get ya what you need.

Above statements are just my $.02 but reflect actual experiences.... It is all too often people spread the bad word and not the good.

You would think that when you have the cash for a vehicle upfront without having to finance it would be easy. Ive tried to get the dealer to see about getting one, but just havent had any luck. Honestly, i just think the way this is being handled sucks. I honestly was looking forward to having an STI in the garage next to my evo, but trying to get this car has not been a good experience.

If that's happens to my SWP base hatch, I'll buy a different car as soon as I get that info...

That's nuts!

I gotta jump in. I can't sit idly by as Grand and, specifically Dan D'Andrea, get kicked in the teeth. I know people have different experiences for different reasons, but my experience at Grand has yet to be matched by any dealership, including top rated Lexus dealers.

I called Grand because they happened to have the WRX I wanted sitting on their lot. I was lucky enough to have Dan take my call. I was instantly sold on the fact that the drive out was worth the hour of my time. Dan was as cool as anyone could ever hope for in a salesman. Personal, not arrogant, and honest. He not only gave me a deal that literally murdered any other dealership, but he did it all while making me feel like I was more than just another sale.

Because of how well Dan and everyone else at Grand treated me, I have given my exclusive business to them and kicked as many of my friends there as possible. Even though there is a dealership within 10 minutes of my house, I gladly make the hour drive out to Grand.

Anyone can spout out how they back their experience. I don't. My words have weight. My fiancée and I have a car obsession and have bought no less than 4 cars in the last two years. I have experience with the shady workings of dealerships. It's gross. That being said, I vouch for Grand and Dan D'Andrea to no end. They are like us...enthusiasts. They will go out of their way for you so give them a chance. Let them make you into a believer. I will offer you the same guarantee Dan offered me...I will not waste your most previous commodity, your time. Give them a chance to earn your business, let Dan know I sent you, and rest assured that you will never have a better experience that goes far beyond the purchase.

I disagree with your first sentence for the most part. I don't think it makes THAT much difference in 266,000 sales.

I do agree with your second sentence though.

Jumpin' on the Grand bandwagon. In the few times I have dealt with them, they were more than willing to go the extra mile for me. They are very motorsports friendly. Not to mention the fact that I get to race against Bill on the weekends, and he helps me with any issues I'm having on trackdays. That may stop when my times are more competitive . Plus, Bobby, and Bruce in parts are great, and Grand is SCCA friendly -- double bonus.

Default The day it comes

Late night pick up at Evanston Subaru from Mike. Evan takes care everything with a quick checkout. Total time spend up to 30 min of paper work/photo/talking. Just be patient, 7-week and 1-day waiting turns out just fine with me. Here are some pics of my car and a DGM Sti (VIN ending in 6287)

P.S. I could freak-out by tonight's big jam on I-80/94 in the rain (if without playing George Carlin's stand-up show), 4.5 hours for 39 miles and local friend says it's just a normal rush hour of Windy City.

Order Date: Aug 29, 2012
VON: Aug 31, 2012
VIN: Sept 19, 2012
ETA 1: Oct 15, 2012
ETA 2 (as of Mike emailed me on Oct 2nd): Oct 8, 2012
ETA 3 (as of Oct 17): Oct 22, 2012
Arrival: Oct 17 ,2012
Pick up: Oct 18, 2012 around 7:30 p.m. CST

As of picked-up:
SPT exhaust;
Navigation;
Wheel Lock;
All Weather Mat;
Auto-dim with Compass.

Good luck everyone!

Car was gone 2013-10-05 clocked at 9300 miles...
Parting out in progress.
