Default WTF, need some input

So this summer some of you knew I had some problems with my STI and misfires on cyl. 2 and 4. Well for the last couple months I have not been driving it and have been saving for a new engine.

Well I took it to a local shop for a comp test and leak down test to make damn sure it was the engine before I purchased a new short block.

Results were 110 across the board....?

So now to what is causing the misfire. The mechanic told me it may be an intake manifold leak? The car has all new injectors, I have tried new coilpacks, new ngk plugs one step colder.

All I know is that I am super stoked now but I still have problems. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Mods are; FP green, PE850, FMIC, 3" Catless and I am not sure if any of the other mods really matter.

I know when John was tuning my car cyl 2 and 4 had a slight roughness and he was having troubles tuning it.

Help please!

You need a better tune. I would change maps and see if it clears up the problem.... You are not the first person I have heard about with misfire codes from Johns tune.

Sometimes when I tinker with my car I get those cars on initial start up. I reset and they don't come back. Are yours coming on all the time?

yeah, I am guessing those two codes are the culprits when my car goes into limp mode. I will just be driving and all of a sudden it will just die out until it goes under 3k rpm and then it feels like i am driving a honda and it wont let me rev over 3k rpms.

It did this to me a few times while driving to SLC this weekend, it sucks when you are going down the free way and your car just dies out, haha.

Check the wiring connections on your throttle inlet/ DBW unit, check connectors for pinches or frays, maybe even moisture breakdown dude.
Have you had the IC off recently? or any work in that area?

Your AVCS Solenoid on cyl. #2 and #4 may be going bad.

Nope, no work has been done for a while on this car. Also I am FMIC, but I did notice that the elbow off of the turbo does press up against the harness on the throttle body. I will take a picture tonight after work.

Do these commonly go out and cause misfire codes? I am not to familiar with the AVCS.

Not super common, but they do go out. When they go bad you will get misfires.

Would they also cause an erratic idle?

I think I am going to pull the AVCS banjo bolt filter out, hopefully that helps with my Idle issues.
