Default First Official Photos of Cadillac's New ELR Extended-Range Hybrid Coupe

Not bad looking!!

Carscoop: http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2013/01...illac-new.html

Quote:
The countdown for the presentation of the new Cadillac ELR at the Detroit auto show (January 14 to 27) begins with a fresh set of pictures that afford us our first unobstructed view of the GM's upmarket extended range hybrid coupe.
The new images show some exterior details of the car as well as of the sharply styled interior that keeps in line with other products from Cadillac.

Under the more fancy sheet metal that was previews by the 2009 Converj Concept, you will find GM's Voltec plug-in hybrid powertrain sourced from the Chevrolet Volt combining an electric motor with a T-shaped lithium-ion and a gasoline-engine that acts as a generator to extend the driving range when necessary. As with the Volt, power is transferred to the front wheels.

Expect to see the new ELR in Cadillac's showrooms from this fall, with full details to be announced within the next 24 hours.

I severely dislike Cadillacs, as they come from government motors and should have died off.

I like it a lot. If I ever live where I can plug a car in this and the Model S will be high on my list. This is more attainable of course.

Yes if only the economy had collapsed completely we all would have been much better off.

I want an extended range equinox or something. This looks fine, but still is tiny.

You know that Japanese car companies have been in bed with their government for decades, and the extent to which Japanese economy is "state-driven" would be enough to make most American libertarians puke last year's Thanksgiving turkey, right? It's good to see you supporting that through your ownership of a Honda.

Pics don't do justice to the body shape over the rear wheels/fender. They look really good in person. I wish they'd put a 2.0L gas turbo in it instead of a hybrid/Volt powertrain.

Show of hands for why they could not put this interior into the new VETTE creation.

At least they churn out better cars at the expense of their low skill labor like would naturally happen instead of our government trying to give people artificially better lives at the expense of the rest of this country.

I have 0 innate mutual interest in anyone's life I'm not immediately involved in, and that should be my right. That doesn't mean I actively try to hurt people or even that I don't do charitable things, but I pick and choose based on my opinion if someone/something matters to me. it's not evil and it's not anyone's place to be able to force their altruistic values on others. The only thing that should be forced are universal truths such as gravity.

Yes, because wood trim and an upright seating position is the epitome of sportiness.

It's pornstar red, and that's optional.

I don't know how you can comment on the quality of the plastics having never been in one. They look quality to me.

The Japanese government has stagnated their economy for DECADES to help their major industrial companies. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I think I just discovered another universal truth: The law of conservation of Randian manifestos in NASIOC. For those mathematically inclined,

d(Randian manifesto) / dt ~ d(H2B + WHC) / dt = -1 + 1 = 0

Ah, the beauty of the universe.

I didn't want to start a C7 debate in here. But I find it highly amusing that the same company that can create this made the C7.

Might be worth doing a little research. General Motors lead the charge in kick starting the economy after 9/11. Automobile sales hit a record in the October following and then again in November. The high level of incentives necessary to get there was one of the key factors(along with mediocre product, mediocre marketing, and high legacy/union costs) that affected their profitability and forced them into bankruptcy. That high level of incentives hurt GM then and in the long term, but it had a noticeable affect on consumer spending post 9/11.

Had never heard of Objectivism before, but I agree with it highly thank you for giving me a name to put to my philosophy (where as I had Libertarianism for my economic policy standpoint).

Well, that sux, I guess NO government has the strength needed to sit by while people reap their own punishments for mistakes. It's a shame, we'd probably have a lot less people.

Not that hard to believe.

They will both be ~50K cars.

One goes fast, one has nice stuff.

Make the vette an 80K car and it could have nice stuff too, but then it would be 911 price.
