Question about Cobb AP, 2011 WRX
I have a 2011 WRX with AEM intake and Cobb AP Stage 1 + AEM (sorry I didn't specify it was +AEM).
I'm just wondering what others are seeing with stage 1 boost through out gears? It says I'm supposed to see around 16 before it tapers. I see like 13 psi gears 1-3 and then finally I saw 15.9 in 4th gear. Is that correct? I dont feel a huge difference over stock. My girlfriend has a 2011 WRX also that is stock and they drive very similar even though mines stage 1. I do feel a little difference mid range but that's about it.. any input would be helpful thanks. (and I'm not complaining haha, just curious) **Possible solution: I switched to Cobb AP Stage 1 + AEM HWG map. I'm seeing 15.8 ~ 16.2 through out gears now and it feels much stronger **Datalog (Cobb AP Stage 1 + AEM HWG map, 3rd gear pull): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...MQmF2Unc#gid=0

Not sure about the cobb, but I often hit 17.5 on my stage 1 tq tune before it tapers off.
seems your low but still in the ballpark of correct. |

Its probably because you are running an intake that is NOT tuned for. So 100% of your issues are caused by you so coming to this forum and kvetching about it will do you no good.

Like Unabomber said. Are you running the Cobb Stage 1 + AEM map?

http://www.cobbtuning.com/info/?ID=3061 Try going to the AP's "Tune" - "Show Current Map" menu and report back what map you have in the reflash slot and what map you have in the realtime slot. Bill |

My Cobb Stage 1 AP is sweet. I see 17-17.9ish. boost hits great. if i were you i would utilize stage 1 tune and factory parts (But thats me). Your aftermarket intake is not needed. Actually it looks better under the hood when it doesnt look like anything was touched. sometings are better untouched.
Good luck |

I AM running Cobb AP Stage 1 + AEM intake that I downloaded from their website (yes it shows that its that map when I view it on the AP). I purposely bought the AEM intake because Cobbs maps only support AEM or their own Cobb SF intake, or stock. Thank you wrxman02 for sharing your boost. That is exactly what I was looking for. So my car is seeing lower boost than it should? Anyone have a solution? I've reflashed it twice to make sure I didn't do it wrong. |

Ive run into unabomber before. Hes not helpful and bashes people for no reason.. Don't know how he became a Mod, he cant even type, everything looks lke a txt msg. Good luck with your issue dude, I have a '11 wrx also with a stage 1 AP tune. No intake though so I cant help through what I have experienced. I do know however (as some people have already pointed out) that the +intake is a waste of $$. You do not see a huge increase and may not even be worth keeping it on your car. Get yourself a catted DP, tune your car for stage 2 and you will probably notice a more satisfactory outcome.

I was running the stage one aem map before I went stage 2. I didnt notice a huge difference with stage 1. Stage 2 I definitely noticed some nice gains though. IF I remember correctly your boost levels are about where mine were on stage 1. I dont trust my spt boost gauge all that much though....
PS: Just try to ignore some of the ******** on this forum (and yes some of them happen to be mods). Not sure if thats how they really are or if they just come across as total dicks but it is what it is. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me and ill try to help. Congrats on the 11 hope youre loving it as much as I am mine!! Last edited by jcarlson546; 11-04-2011 at 01:01 AM. |

Whats up guys i have a similar problem. I also have a 2011 wrx with an invidia catless downpipe. I tuned the car yesterday with my cobb accessport to map 2 (suggested by cobb) and i didn't feel that much of a difference. I did a pull tonight with a 335i and lost by like 2 1/2 cars, i know it doesn't seem like much but i figured i would be at least on his fender considering he only has a intake. Now this is were it gets weird...i was driving home and i punched it and it felt like it was pulling 10x harder than it did before. My question is does it take time for the car to get use to the tune or is it just all in my head.

Thanks man haha. I'll keep you in mind when I go stage 2 I wasn't expecting a huge gain with stage 1 but I've just read about others seeing higher boost levels than I did. Was just curious. I love my car though haha. Came from a 2008 Civic Si so I'm not complaining at all.[/quote]
Sounds goood haha. Oh ya that must be a nice little step up I may be selling my catless invidia downpipe in the near future soley because the tuner I want to go through will only tune my car if its cattedEither way shoot me a pm if youve got questions! |

Well from what I've read you usually want to go custom tune with a catless down pipe because of possible boost creep. I know Cobb has a stage 2 map for it though. Also your car does have to get used to the tune. Mine felt better after driving it for a while. When you reflash it, it erases anything the ecu learned before I believe. Maybe that's all it was haha. Good luck though |

Yeah i love my torque haha. Big step up there. Well you gotta do what you gotta do and you'll be doing the environment a little bit of a favor haha. I'm planning on going catless invidia dp though. my brother has hookups with invida... so that helps me lol. Thanks again though |

I'm just going to data log for fun today and get an actual reading on my boost levels. Is anyone else with an 11 wrx seeing 17~ psi with the cobb stage 1 map?

Awesome thanks for the video and input. I already logged yesterday but this helped me out on understanding it haha. I'll do another log when I have time. Yesterday I saw mostly 14.5~ psi and then peak 15.8 psi in 4th. |

I just switched to Cobb AP Stage 1 + AEM HWG map and I'm seeing much better numbers. I saw 15.8 ~ 16.2 PSI through gears now instead of mid 14s. I haven't seen any overboosting and boost feels much better. I datalogged on the way to work so when I get home I'll post them up I guess. Maybe Cobb can take a look and see if there's anything weird at all.

With the regular stage 1 + aem, when I hit boost, I can see 2-3. Now with stage 1 + aem hwg I'm seeing 0.9-1.5. Which means I'm now closer to target boost right?
