roof vent.
Has anyone tried to do a oe like roof vent diy? not install, but make it from scratch? im curious about doing it and wouldnt mind some input if anyone has if not i might just have to wing it and post it.
If nothing at all some dimension inputs from people with theirs. like how deep on the roof does it sit. top panel dimension, arch depth. Im a diy'er and i don;t want to spend 5-600 on one. figure i would have to make a wood press or something. input appreciated once again.

Just curious as to why? I'm a DIY guy myself and just bought the vent and scoop from primitive racing. Its not the OEM one as I have a rally car, but the spec c one is already tried and true.
I just think sometimes its better to get one that's made instead of racking my brain when I can do other functional mods to the car. If your gonna Fab a "clean" one your gonna have to also mold in the headliner/flap handle. And perfectly seal it. I'm not trying to sway you either way. Just trying to give you another point of view. |

the primitive one, seems blocky to me and the cars that have them that i race with i just don;t like. the pivot arm i can order for 5 bucks apparently. headliner part would be a easy fiberglass mold and plastic form it. just wanted dimensions that i can't seem to find, it is hard and in now way am i doing it over a weekend is apparent to me. mostly being done do to boredom of having no projects to do. thought it would be a unique thing to have do and learn a few new skills in the process.

I've been researching this for a while. I have yet to see a DIY that got finished. The primitive vent isn't really an option for a DD application. It sure would be awesome if someone got their hands on a spec c vent and started duplicating them.

I have a spec C roof vent. It's been so long, that I can't even remember where I got it. Maybe eBay from outside the USA.
I bought it for my 2000 RS. After seeing the pics of the coming 2001 Impreza, I bought my 2000. The only bad part, I had to get a sunroof with the RS model. So, I ordered a base-model roof from Subaru, and put it in storage to install later. They don't sell these any more? |

Not new that I'm aware of. The ones for the GC are much easier to get than the GD chassis and when you do find one they want $500 for it lolol
