Ordered a rally blue wrx a couple weeks ago. One showed up from Japan the day before. I should have it by the 24th. Even waiting the two weeks I have to wait is killing me! I apologize to all of you who have to wait longer! Just go to your dealership of choice... Flash some cash and say make it happen! Not to be a total jerk, I played one dealer off another and they found one for me within 48 hours. Like I said mine was sitting in the Vancouver BC subaru warehouse and arrived from Japan less than 24 hrs before. It was slated for another dealer and they made a dealer trade to get it for me! In the immortal words of Fry.... SHUT UP SND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!
Here is a tip.. Get one that Is available and get the extras later!!

That happened with a guy who ordered a BRZ with us about 3 weeks ago. Based off what SOA told us, his order number should have put his car's ETA around March of next year. As we put the order in, it showed a December ETA. It then got scheduled and the ETA moved up to month of September. Got a VIN on it last week and it will be here around 9-10. His does happen to be an automatic though.

If everyone who is frustrated that their orders have been so delayed would think about what caused the back up in the first place, and try and take it all in perspective, it may not be so frustrating.

I am not in any way arguing that Subaru is perfect at all, just that this is what caused this massive cluster jam in the first place. They certainly have IT and distribution issues they need to address.

With the number of Impreza's being sold, I think the disaster just delayed the inevitable. Look at SIA. We have Outbacks and Legacys coming out our ears. Impreza sales surpassed their all time YEARLY sales last month. I think the earthquake/tsunami just delayed us getting the Impreza. They would still have a issue with keeping up with production. Too many carlines out of those plants. Need to utilize SIA for more SUBARU production and less Toyota production; OR, buy and retool a shut down plant(I am sure there is one out there).

To everyone that wants or has on order the STS for their new car. SAVE your money!!! I had it added to my 2012 wrx and personally I can't tell the difference. It is as tall as the stock the the throw is like a boat oar. buy the Kartboy/Cobb or any one you would like and if you don't believe me just ask around everyone I know that got the STS is not happy with it.

I don't like my STS that came with my 11 either, I'm hoping bushings will help.

It helps a little bit but buy the Kartboy/Cobb adaptor. It's a world of difference.

Hi guys, I'm planning on ordering a '13 STi if this job interview goes well tomorrow. My only question isthat I have read somewhere that the depreciation of the STi and WRX's is very low. Would you guys say that the STi is an overall investment?

For Example: someone total's the STi 5 years after ownership. What percentage of depreciation do I incur? also, 1-4 yrs as well.

Thank you.

Emailed out some inquires to dealers in the bay area (northern california) for 2013 5 door 5 MT base. The lowest I got was for $25129 invoice was from carlsen subaru, so I'm probably going to email back and see what kind of out the door pricing he can do. Sales manager mentioned that in the past, he could have offered below invoice but a few days ago Subaru changes how orders work. Previously, if they ordered a car for a customer, they would receive an "extra car", however now it's just coming out of current allocation.

I have been waiting since January to be able to post this:

2013 WRB STi 5 Door:

Navi (Don't ask why, even IDK why I did it)
Auto Dimming Mirror W/Compass

Now I just need to get out of the desert and hope that it is waiting for me back in OH when I get home.

Nope, it is a car and not an investment. Nobody can estimate what the depreciation will be on your 2013, it should be better with a WRX but who knows. If gas shoots through the roof and is $6 a gallon, there might not be a big market for sub-30MPG cars. If the 2014 is a mega hit and folks all want the new WRX setup, then yours is out dated and you might take a bigger hit. The opposite, if people hate the new platform, the 2013 model could be well sought after.

My point, your guess will be just about as accurate as anybody elses.

Oh yeah, a car is not an investment. If you think about it like that, you will be disappointed. It is an asset which depreciates, invest in your house, the market, your education, you buy a car.

I don't think there would have been as much of a log jamb if there was no tsunami. Certainly not to the point we have now where I haven't had a 2012 Impreza in stock for sale for almost 6 months (other than 2 base 4door 5-speeds).

No question that they need another plant if they want to reach these lofty sales goals over the next 2-3 years. I just don't see there being this kind of issue with Impreza/WRX/STi if the Tsunami never happens. That was almost a total of 6 months of no production.

I agree that those kartboys are quality pieces.

To be fair, the Subaru one is not supposed to be any shorter in height. It is actual linkage differences as opposed to the aftermarket ones that just drop the heigh and bend of the shifter itself. It does shorten the throw by ~20-25%.

Just a different way to achieve a shorter throw. Being a long lanky armed guy I prefer the stock height so I can keep my elbow on the armrest and shift when I am just bopping around town.

This is exactly why I got the STS option. I wanted to keep the factory height. Plus, I had read in one or two places (sorry, can't find the thread) that the STS linkages were slightly stouter. Not sure if that's true or not.

Having spent some time in automotive development, I absolutely will stick to the idea that OEM should be preferred over aftermarket. There is just so much R&D that goes into the littlest of things, especially wear parts like bushings and cables that I would be hard pressed to have the same piece of mind with an aftermarket part.

Additionally, this is my DD. I've got a track car in the garage that I can scratch the "mod-itch" with so I'm going to do the best I can at keeping the incoming WRX as "dealer service" friendly as possible. Hell, if I have an issue anywhere in my transmission then the dealer could viably point to an aftermarket shifter and deny a claim. Which would suck...

As always, it's YOUR car. Get what works best for YOU. There are very little blanket statements for "this _____ is junk / the best"

Seriously, can't wait any longer for this thing to show up. And it's only been 1 day since the official order. This is going to be a LONG 8 weeks.

Nah, I still have to pay for taxes and tags. I felt like it was a good deal considering the very best I have seen below invoice OTD was around 1,000. Remember I added 1200 in addons.

Anybody know how long it takes for the "revised eta" to be updated typically? Gives an estimated eta right off the bat but does have a space for a revision in the pipeline report I saw.

Thanks!
