As someone who lives in that town, that is why I don't have my front windows tinted. I know a few people who have been ticketed over the years.

Also, don't attempt driving more than a few over the speed limit. They're everywhere.

That sucks.

I saw the guy pulled over as i drove by on 70, Im guessing lookin for a sucker like me or just recently pulled someone over. And then after pulling over me the guy was chasing down some cobalt ss with an aftermarket exhaust.

Calm down robocop.

Made an order last night for some assorted tiny goodies. Should be in next week.. Hopefully, weather allowing, the next things I get lined up will be the H&R springs and tint..

Saw the sport mesh grille and the spoiler add-on thing yesterday in person for the first time.. I like how the grille and spoiler look, but there's two big things I don't like.. 1) The mesh on the grille is too thin. It feels a tad cheap, and doesn't match the thickness of the lower grille. Looks good overall, the color match is nice, but the mesh leave some to be desired. 2) The spoiler add-on thing also looks good. In pics it looked huge, but it really isn't. It's just about right. Should have came I'm the Sport and Limited stock. lol I was worried that since it was only an "add-on" it'd be flimsy, but it's not. It seems solid, even after some force on it. My only gripe here is it should be a HAIR bigger. Not length-wise off the car, but a hair wider side-to-side as well as on the roofline section. Don't make it look like an add-on, that's dumb. Make it fit fully flush over the original spoiler. But maybe I'm just too picky. lol

Which is exactly why I'm going to try to get a medical waiver for when I get my windows tinted (migraines). Then I can tell the officer to go $#$% off

When I lived in Los Angeles for awhile, they love giving fix-it tickets for mods and tint. Luckily, cops never looked at me as I always drove the speed limit and kept it in as high a gear as possible to eliminate extra noise.. lol

Now children this police officer is your friend. He is hired to protect and serve the community.
In other words, your tax dollars will pay his salary so that he can pull you over to generate capitol for our wasteful system. If there is an emergency he wont be around until afterwards to take your statement for a report. But dont you worry, when it comes to your window tint he will always be there because it is a crime of immediate danger.

Why not just comply with the laws of the state in which you live, and have the document handy to give to the officer if they pull you over?

Update: It looks like it is illegal in NJ to tint your front windows. If you drive around with window tint it is easy to spot and give you a ticket, consider it pay to play or remove the tint.

God forbid you screw up and let your registration or inspection lapse, or you or a friend or a friend of a friend drops a bag of weed in your car and the officer who stops you for the illegal tint spots it ?

Why would you give them a reason to stop you any time? It is a guaranteed ticket, and a possible ticket for anything else that they spot after they pull you over for the obvious.

Yknow I totally understand pay to play, but i went with 35% which i condiser to be relatively light, and i dont drive like a maniac or have any type of flashy/highly modified car so I would think its kind of low risk that a cop would pull me over.

Of course theres a chance and I still am not taking the cops advice to "remove it asap," i just found it aggravating that this young cop had no reason to pull over a normal little car with tint he can clearly see through and then call it blacked out, even refferring to the law that says i can only have 0% tint, which obviously means he doesnt know what that means.

whatever, ill just drive faster to get through that town quicker. lol jk

Btw it was a $54 ticket

my tints are legal in ny, so when you go for state inspection in nj just tell them its legal in ny and thats where you had it done or roll down the two front windows. I had to reinspect my new car to get the sticker, I rolled down my windows drove in the car they gave me the sticker and I was on my way. This was about 3 weeks ago in cold winter Douchebag cops will pull you over others won't I have 30 front 20 rear. Might not hurt to have the law enforcement license plate or a pba supporter gold monstrosity on your front windshield which is also illegal ditto for ezpass mwa ha ha. If you have the plates you can generally get a pass.

My sedan had buzzing from the rear deck at low RPMs. Removed tether covers, problem solved.

Thank you, well said!!! In my state, 27% is legal all around but I went with 15%. If I ever get a ticket for it then it's my own fault!! How about accepting responsibility for our own actions?!?!

Yeah good luck with that haha!!!!!! It doesn't matter where you get it tinted, the tint has to be legal for the state in which the vehicle is registered!!!

There's your reason right there!!! He clearly DID have a reason if you have tint and it's illegal!

No point in putting something illegal on a legal car. I've tinted my Impreza to the legal limit for good reason.

I'm thinking about getting the yellow fog overlays. Does anyone know the best method for installing them on the fog light with the silver trim piece? Does that piece come off before or with that black plastic piece?

So I decided not to tint my windshield or front windows even though it would look much more awesome than rear windows and hatch being 15% and the fronts and windshield being stock.

In NY front windows can't be any lower than 70 & factory glass is close to 70 to begin with. Sooo... pretty much any tint on front windows in NY is illegal when you combine it with the factory glass. But they tend to leave you alone in most areas.

The silver trim piece is attached to the black fog surround. It all comes off in one piece.

The spoiler is for the hatch right?? If so was it an easy install ?? I wouldn't mind going the spoiler just to clean and cut things up

Inspection in NJ is only emissions, theyll pass a tinted car now.

I did it for many reasons. Energy savings, protecting the leather, protecting my butt from hot leather, security (maybe its too light to provide any theft prevention), and looks.

It not like i cant afford the $50 ticket, i was just aggravated at the cop for wasting everyones time and being an imbocile.

Im thinking of getting a doctors note, as insurance.

In NJ, you can legally paint all of your rear half windows black for all they care. But nothing is allowed up front. You can risk going pretty light, they wont always pull you over, but it does happen. They also make clear film with UV protection if that is your concern.

I just wish they would pull people over and make them clean the snow off their cars.
