Just curious...
I went looking around to see who sells an H or HL side wheel, this all was sparked by looking for a VF29 and a VF23 to dabble with . I REALLY like the VF29 (V6 STi's turbo?) it's pretty much our TD04 but puts out more CFM's. Look at this link: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine...oe-td04-2.html (Post #27,#29) This curve is SIIICK! I think that the VF23 is wicked in terms of "small turbos". This is a sleeve bearing turbo with a 467 comp wheel and P18 Turbine Housing. IHI VF 24/28/29 ----- 410 CFM at 14.7 PSI <--- estimated. IHI VF 24/28/29 -- 425 CFM at 18 PSI <--- estimated. Forced Performance has a 3000GT/Stealth 13G turbo BUT for $1390, and offer wheel combos including: Mitsubishi 15G-HL and Mitsubishi 19T-HL BUT for $525. Haha, now I know that those prices are just out of this world, but Scooby921 had a shop build his 19T in his TD04... what do you all think about a 15T-HL upgrade for the TD04??? I really do want that epic fattt midrange ooomph Cheers, ~Wolf WT Last edited by ForesterWTi; 07-06-2010 at 03:50 AM. |

lol your killing me! You have yours in a 2.5 STi, I'm still making the best of the open deck 03-03 2.0L wrx platform. By now you should know, I don't take the path most chosen; I'd rather make my own . BTW I'm still in the boat if you want a ride in the Pink Vader .

nope. I have an MBC, and have tuned out any control the ECU "thinks" it has over the boost. I've also set it to jump to the high det fuel map at ANY drop in IAM.
Wolf, I'm not sure what your reasoning for posting that link was. The small 16G I have, has identical spool, but is going to make WAY more power than the VF29. On the dyno in the link you posted, the VF29 is making TD04L-13T horsepower numbers, but its making peak torque around the same time as a 20G. |

For all the hype, I'm just not believing they came out with a miracle. HTA68 is not spoolng as fast as a 16g on the 2.0L and most people interested in the 19t want that early torque punch. I'm really interested in that Blouch 16gXT for the 2.0L. If it spools like the small 16G, it would be golden. |

you're kidding right? the 16gXT is Blouch's answer to FP's HTA68. they are direct competitors. FP's success with billet HTA wheels prompted Blouch to respond with their "XT" turbos. either will rock a 2.0 and give you plenty of punch. go look at the graphs of 2.0's with HTA68's and you'll see what the "Hype" is about. |

well crap. The station I filled up at today had crap gas. Must've been mostly normal gas. My ECU is at full -25% correction to idle at 14.7. (its targeting 15.2 at idle, so it needs even more taken out...).
Here goes a full tank worth of extremely conservative driving |

Wolf, I'm all for doing your own thing. But your killing me about the VF turbo it's non rebuildable.. unless you want to pay $800+ for a new CHRA. Only option this thread has is: -Grimspeed porting or similar porting TD04(maybe even clipping) http://www.grimmspeed.com/catalog/pr...products_id=42 31lb/min-Blouch 19T upgrade 34-35/min-Any company small 16g 39-41lb/min-Any company Evo3 16g ????-Blouch 16gXT 49lb/min- FP HTA68 Funny it's order from fastest spooling to most power as well as from lowest price to highest. The 16g-XT flows less (42 lbs/min vs 47 lbs/min) and uses a 7cm^2 housing vs a 10cm^2 housing. I've seen the plots, I've talked to my local tuner. Spool on the HTA68 is not faster than a 16gEVOIII on a 2.0. Dyno plots are like the bible, you can find something to prove anything you want. 16gEVOIII vs HTA68: http://www.ctsubie.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11494 hint: on a 2.0 the 16g wins on that plot Last edited by AllAWD; 07-07-2010 at 02:16 PM. |

and the flowrate of the wheel means very little here. FP used it to sell the turbo......and notice they took all mention of "16g" out of the name....even though its a 16g with a different wheel in it, although they do say that on their site. the hta68 makes the power of a 38-40 lb/min turbo just like every other big 16g. |

^^ thank you Ron. the HTA68 is very much a competitor to every other big 16g.
the fact that it was ever compared to the 18 and 20g's was simply due to FP's advertising of its flow rates. |

I dont think it was a coincidence that they didnt name it an HTA 16g. The 47 lb/min number was advertised for a reason....just like the "16g" was left out of the name for a reason. On paper it should kill all 18g's and 20g's on top end power. reality is another story.
Straight from FP's description "These units are constructed from Genuine MHI 16g turbochargers which are reconfigured to 68HTA specs by Forced Performance. " http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...Code=WRX-Turbo |

It really is a better option for a 2.5, but not on a 2.0 without different fuel (e85, meth, race fuel). Quote:

i would never ever ever "upgrade" to a hta68 over a vf.
unless you're talking about a td04 equipped 2.5L, but even then just get a used vf turbo for $400 and call it a day. I have an 02 wrx and an 06 sti and been through many setups on both and i wouldnt put anything less than a 49 lb/min turbo on either of them. although i finally got the td04 back on my wrx to try and break the 12.4 sec 1/4 record. I only did 1 pull.....made 220whp at 12psi on the road dyno. hoping to hit 300whp at 20psi. |

^^ from what i read the 7cm^2 hot side will limit your overall on a 2.5l.
how ever i got my 16g-xt today heres some pics http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...8&l=87ed0ac08c |

and the fp green? all the way up to the AMR t60R...... its the 16g compressor housing thats the restriction IMO. you can shove a gt35 comp wheel in there....doesnt mean its gonna flow 62 lbs/min. |

Results with the HTA68 on the 2.0l are definitely a mixed bag. When pushed to higher boost levels on E85 it seems to be a decent option. Here are results at 5000' (Longmont, CO) with a 1.32 CF.
[IMG][/IMG] This was with a FMIC at 22psi peak boost. Even at a more reasonable CF of 1.16 (316 whp), this is a pretty decent result. I have not seen any data for an E316G at this level in Colorado with similar CF on a DD dyno. Here is another example with an STi TMIC at 20psi peak at 6000' (Colorado Springs) with 1.15 CF [IMG][/IMG] ...and for comparison here again is my best result with the Deadbolt TD04L-19T at 22 tapering to 18 psi with APS TMIC and 1.15 CF at 6000' (Colorado Springs). [IMG][/IMG] The HTA68 is lagging my TD04 by only 500 rpm at 200 lb-ft (4200 rpm vs 3700). So, +15% peak power for 500 rpm later spool. Hmmm... it's good to have different options! |

na E85 is only at i believe 2 stations here in albuquerque. the 3rd one closed a few weeks back. if it ever becomes mainstream i will for sure, was part of the reason for the 820cc.
sadly im strapped for cash now so i gotta wait till august to get it tuned. |
