Default Werid sound?

I have a 95 2.2 AWD and noticed that if i rev the engine up than let off the throttle, towards the low RPMs there is a werid like metal hitting metal sound. you can't hear it inside the car but if your standing by the engine you can hear it. Don't know if you guys have any idea what it could be. the engine runs fine and has the same power. The engine is bone stock no modifcation. It sounds like it is coming from underneth the intake manifold. I hate hearing something that is coming from the inside of the engine. any help would be useful, thanks much.

Loose exhaust shield......unfortunately without actually hearing it.....it's very difficult to pin-point.

The heat shield on the "y" pipe is loose or your cat is breaking up...

Hydrolic valve adjustment worn too much. The previous owner may not have changed the oil enough (or they are just old) so you get momentary clicking from the valves.

Just my guess
