It should be in your manual. I've got a WRX and it takes 4.7Qt's. It may also be listed on the top of the oil cap.

Not on our oil caps. 4.2 quarts...but you can get away with 4 even

I usually use a little more than four and a half. I carry whatever is left in the cargo container in the rear in case I need oil.

My MY97 Legacy GT owners manual says 4.7 quarts.

When I did my oil change I used approx. 6 qts

Please tell me you spilled a lot of the oil. The manual only states that it takes 4.8Qt's to fill. If you put in 6Qt's, you overfilled it.

6 quarts? I dont get it, even with new filter and pan replacement the most I could ever see would be 5 quarts. You had better drain some of the oil out.

Just to clarify, codemunky's got an MY00 RS, those take 4.2 quarts. The WRXes take 4.7 quarts.

Thats strange. Why would my Legacy which is also a 2.5 take a half qt more? The only thing I can think of is I have a DOHC, but would that be worth a half qt?
