STi was an amazing machine, was rare (around here), and was a bunch of fun.
MS3 is way more comfortable, has more features, and is great on gas. The ms3 crowd however, consists of a bunch of immature and self centered pricks, who swear the drive god's chariot. The subie wave is the thing I miss the most. With the MS3 it's more like a mean mug and an attempt to race. Quite retarded.

What is "the subie wave"? I know bikers do a low wave at each other. And I know that BMW drivers flash their brights at each other. But I've never heard of the Subie Wave.

Typically subie owners (primarily boosted ones though) wave to each other. It originated when Subaru was still a relatively small brand here in the US (in comparison to Toyota and Honda) and they weren't seen as often, so their owners would wave to each other. "Real recognize real" if you will. Now that Subaru has expanded and sales continue to rise, it's primarily shared between WRX/STi owners.

I'll admit that I rarely wave to non-turbo Subies unless I can see it's modded. I used to live near the Subaru plant in Indiana, so everyone drove Subies and I became more or less immune to ones without hoodscoops unless I personally knew who it was.

My last "wave" was on the night I was headed to The dealer to trade the sti in. I honked at an Outback I was passing and they honked back.
I felt like such a traitor. |

There are hundreds of threads about waving at each other... Lets keep this one on track.
Anyone doing maintenance on their racks or cargo boxes? Lube for moving parts, cleaning etc... Some of my older equipment went to hell because I didn't take care of it. |

I discovered Meguiars "black restorer" and went to town on all my rack components.

No problem here. I always make sure the car and foot of the rack is super clean before I put it on. Also make sure that its nice and tight.

While it may be clean when you install it, it gets VERY dirty while in use.
I installed mine with the Lamin-X kit and was pleased when, only after 8 months, there was a crapload of dirt between the Lamin-x and the crossbar mounts. If it hadnt been for the viny, the dirt would have constantly rubbed against the paint. I since sold the STi, and have Lamin-X protecting my MS3's paint. It's not worth the risk, honestly, and there are cheaper alternatives like 3M products. |

I don't really care about the price... Can you see the lamin-x when it's on there w/ the roof racks removed? |

BARELY.. It kind of looks like a piece of packing tape.
It's essentially a square, and you cut it to your liking/size. Here it is on my MS3. White dot you see is the flash. |

Yea, you can barely see that. And for 19.95 for the kit, I think I'll go ahead and bite the cost for a piece of mind. I wanted to order some fog light protection as well, so I might as well throw that in with it Thanks for the pic! |

Yep! I got the fog light covers in smoke too! They really help protect the lenses against gravel and rock chips. Install is super easy if you just remove the whole fog cover (easy). And if you're a first time customer, you can use the coupon code too!
I think it's "10off" or something. Google search it and you'll see it. |

Thanks man... You've been real helpful! I just placed my order for roofrack protection and foglight covers! For anybody that needs future reference, that 10off coupon works. |

mount them up and mark off the area youll need to protect with painters tape. then remove the racks agin and cut the strips in half. place one half of one siide of the black rail, and the other half on the other.. drying time is pretty quick too. |
