'06 STi with SR56 and Aquamist
This car was a car with minimal mods and ran really great on the dyno
It is a 2006 STI SR56 Turbo AP2 3" turbo back exhuast APS 65 mm cold air intake Walbro Fuel pump Aquamist HFS 5 - Two spray nozzels - one on each end of the stock sti tmic 24 - 25 psi on Pump gas Stock injectors 100% maxed out and mass air flow at limit with this power level A nice quick spooling simple street set up that results in a very fast car on pump gas Video of the dyno http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWqx_vuPTfo

Holds power very nicely. Would you say the torque drop off is attributed to the cams? TMIC?

I really dont know much about this stuff, but Ive been taught that its not good to run injectors above 80% duty cycle. Ive also herd that the STi's can flow around 600cc's, although theyre only rated to 565cc's. If you dont mind, could you share some of your knowledge on this to shed some light on it? Im planning an 06 STi build right now with a friend of mine. Thanks in advance.

It is always recomended to maintain injectors at around 85% duty cycle as a confortable max operational zone to allow sufficient off time (cooling) and to maintain proper control
The reality is that many cars we see are running near 95% or more duty cycle with no issues what so ever If you search back on the archives here you will find a old debate between Cobb and Vishnu on this subject about the old Cobb kits which used unichips - back before the Access Port about the saftey and reliability of running high injector duty cycles. Here is a link to that discussion which was very informative - from back in 2001 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...e+cobb+unichip With hind sight I have not seen too many injectors go bad In the case of this car what we will prob do on the street is lower the boost slightly to get the injector max duty cycle to about 90% and also include a fuel cut in both the tune and the EBC to prevent the customer from turning up the boost to exceed about 95% duty cycle - what ever that works out to on the road. We might also up our alcohol jet size as well. Going down the road, this customer must upsize his injectors if he does any other mods such as a larger tmic or fmic of a v mount etc. With larger injectors come slight losses in idle control and partial tps response and slight losses in atomization ability. With careful tuning larger injectors can be made to run very well - we did a car with 800's last week which made over 460 tq and 417 whp with a Donminator 2.5 and Aquamist which ran really well. I like the Green and the Dominator 2.5 and 3 myself - this SR56 was something wehad in inventory and the customer wanted to stay with a full APS set up - the car has all APS all the way around from the 3.5 " Exhaust to the cold air intake so the nice res turbo was a logical step
Maybe the APS tmic will be the customer's next step Al |

Why wouldn't you run this setup on the 70mm CAI and some bigger injectors?

Nice numbers Al, but 373whp on a stock maf, injectors, and fuel pump is a little hard to swallow.

Thanks for posting the vid, there's not a lot of info on the SR56 and it seems to inherit the reputation of the SR55 still.
I'm running that same turbo, with a fmic, 70mm cai, 740cc nismos, hsf-5 injected at the throttle body with 50/50 mix, tgv deletes and port, boost control solenoid, fuel pump, and a twin vent recirc bov. I hit 353whp uncorrected on the Rocket Rally Dyno Dynamics and have no issues with creep at all with IWG. I'm running at 1.5bar ... 21.7psi It pulls hard all the way into redline and wants to keep going. |

He just decided to add this turbo to his set up and see how much power it coul make with his current intake and injectors. Turns out it made decent power this way and the customer MAY just decide to leave it the way it is now. OR he may do some more upgrades in which the larger intake and injectors will be required. Al |

btw couldn't you have went a little more aggressive on the timing? by the look of the afr's during dyno pull

On every street car I set up, there is a lot of room to go more agressive. The idea is to leave a signifiant margin of saftey for long term reliability and for adaption to varying fuel octane levels and climatic conditions. How agressive to set up a car is a art to itself.
