Default Gauging Interest: 2011+ Sedan wrx/sti diffuser

OK so after being dissapointed in how the HT autos diffuser turned out, and how pricey the varis diffuser is, ive decided im going to make my own. I am seriously considering making a mold and selling some if there is enough interest. PLEASE dont assk how much it will be or what material it will be made of, that is yet to be determined, although it will most likely be made of fiberglass and painted black, POSSIBLY carbon fiber, again if there is enough interest. The 2 designs i came up with are both somewhat similar to diffusers on the market for previous year wrx/sti's, but with a little of my own design twist to them. Please vote in the pole pnly if you are interested in getting one if i end up making them to sell.

Option #1

Option #2

i persoannly dont really care for that design, too subtle i was wanting something more aggressive. i figured most people would want that as well. and if they dont well they can get the ht autos first diffuser they made.

You should make one for the hatches as well. Aside from the varis one which costs an arm and a leg nothing else really looks good. and yea the r205 diffuser is pretty subtle.

Well after seeing that option 2 is clearly more favored, i stayed late after work today and mocked it up out of cardboard to kinda give a visual. i personally really like how it came out and am excited to see a finished product.

Well I originally had all the vertical parts 3.5" tall/ deep whatever, and it seemed to give it cartoon like proportions, and I didn't really care for it, so I shortend ithem up to 2". I'm highly considering going back up to 2.5" for a slightly more aggressive look. Like you would like.

Ever think of 3 splitters in the middle instead of 2?

I had, just forgot to see what it would look like after I had only put 2 on. Was tired and ready to head home lol this design is still not set in stone, I'm still figuring out a few details on it.

one thing you need to take into account is not to have the edges so square. the wrx/sti rear bumper has a lot of rounded curves, so make those curves flow into the diffuser. make it look OEM+ but aggressive a ****, not so obvious that it's an add on piece ya know?

also you know how the charge speed skirts have that little find on the skirts? and on the wagon they have a little fin for hhe back, well try to incorporate what you have now designed with a fin/aero guard that goes up onto the bumper also.

also maybe make the part around the exhaust tips a little bigger? You said you have 3 inch muffler deletes, but alot of new exhaust are 4.5 inch tips such as the ARK DT-S, and the new EVO3 exhaust that's coming out.

Jive: I was already planing on. Making all the corners curved, I just had forgotten to mention it. Kinda hard to do that with cardboard as well haha. I also tried to come up with some kinda piece thatcame up like that but just couldn't get one that looked right.

Cliff: there is more room in the picture than there looks. Okay I will tape it up and measure to see how much room there is. Like I already mentioned in a precious reply, I plan on making the vertical ridges taller/depeper for a more aggressive look AND more clearance for exhaust tips

I have decided on the pricing. For a fiberglass piece painted black, it will be 350. In the beginning i plan on ordering enough material to make 20 pieces. The carbin fiber version will be 550. I thnk these prices are fair for what you are getting, and an absolute steal for the carbon fiber version. I plan on ordering enough material to make 10 carbon fiberr units AFTER i have made all of the fiberglass units. This saturday i plan on making the positive plug for the mold and hopefully complete it, and in the next coming wheel make the negative mold and hopefully by then ill be ready to start making parts. i will make a new thread when i start on making the positive mold and ill figure out how you will be able to reserve yours for once it is completed. If you have any suggestions please post them up. Also if any moderator has a problem with me posting this please inform me and i will get a vendor membership and make a new thread.
