My dealer told me the same thing on price! Only 2000-3000 more than the current model! That is alot better than the 30,000 rumor going around! They are accepting names now for orders! Wish I could put mine down! Maybe in a few months!

Maybe they are talking about the new RS or TS wutever. The non turbo Impy.
But I had a similar experience too.... I was chatting with some salesguys at my local dealership (btw are top notch ppl) and they asked me how much should the new WRX be. I said no more than CDN38k. and they looked shocked and said "SOLD!". So judging by their expression, I think the car would be less than CDN 38k ....hmm.... I hope it would retain those nice racing seats!

Wow! 23-24k for that car I might as well get myself a `01 lude which has much better looks and doesn't for only 26k brand spankin new. But, I can probably get it much cheaper at a price of 22k off the lot.

Wow, that would make it only $23- $24 k!! With that price, I might almost buy one and not weight in hope for the 280 hp version. That is if I can find enough money for a down payment. I will however wait to test drive one. I probably will wait, because if I buy a new car, I will want to keep it for quite a while, and I would hate to buy a 220 hp version, and then 2 years later have Subaru release a 280 hp 2 door SVX version. Oh well, we shall see. (crossing my fingers for 280 hp )

Unhappy

I am only 19, and I would love to have one of the new WRX's, but I don't think my insurance, even with a perfect record, would allow me to have one, or they would charge me too much! How's the insurance on the 2.5? Anyone know if the turbo version would hike the rates really high?

I doubt a lot of "kids" will by buying it...even at that price. And this is why....

-4 doors!!!
-if Subaru doesn't advertise, who will know? (ie RS)
-they do want the race boy image generally, and if they didn't buy the RS for that reason alone...they won't buy the turbo!
-even at roughly $24K that is still a heck of a lot of money for a "kid"
-the RS should have been a MUCH better seller here but wasn't. When "kids" think performance they think Honda or American Muscle, or German....or Italian...but not Subaru.
-The new WRX looks NOTHING like the Subaru's in GT1/2

Thumbs up

The salesman I talked to also said the WRX would be only 2-3000 more than the current 2.5 RS! Glad to hear other dealers have the same info!

Great, so the RS will loose value fast and every 18 year old punk will have the turbo.
That sucks!
Trading in the RS won't be good, because its residual value is going to be too low. And I still have 3.5 more years on mine....
Guess the aftermarket turbos will take a hit, too.
But wait, demand will drive the price up, like the beetle had it. There's hope.
I'm pissed!

WHy are you pissed wrc666? it's good news that we can have such a capable car at a decent price! And I'm glad it is not that racer boyish as definitely the ricers would go for image first before raw performance. So they can buy up whatever used RS they want and sticker it up! I don't care. I just hope it comes with the stuff that's on the magazines....withthe kewl rims, seats, dash etc....

You sure every 18 year old punk will have one? Remember, it looks like a Neon!! A lot of them seem to like to dis it rather badly.

Not that I care. I'll take the wagon and be happy.

I dont think many "18 yo punks" will be getting the new Impreza. I for one am 16 and most of my friends hate the new impreza and wouldnt want one.

Consensus is good, yet without a list of the specs (i.e. what does (and more importantly, does not) come on the US spec car), talk of an -ish price is only a small step towards the day in March when they roll off the truck.
