These guys put on a good instruction day at Mission for first timers and intermediate drivers: http://www.morrisport.com/index.html
March 30th is the season opener. I haven't been in a year so I'm excited to get my feet wet again.

Pacific Raceways is a very fun track with all of it's elevation changes but make sure you have lots of pad life left. I'd love to get out to The Ridge this year. I've heard really good things about it.

^I'd be more worried about pad life at Mission. That track murders your brakes.

Yeah, it does. It's a short track so you're on the brakes quite a bit. I was thinking of 3A and 3B at PR as being the pad cooker. I don't track my STI(I'm a Honda head) so I am unfamiliar with it's braking bias and extra weight factor in a closed course environment.

Hope to see and meet some of you at PR or The Ridge this year

I've never had my pads cook once @ PR! Even with 30min open lapping sessions! What pads did you run? :P

What Honda do you own?

Never done it myself but seen a handful of drivers go off at the 3A run off and plenty end their day. Mostly heavier cars like Scoobies and Euros.

I have an ITR since 2003 that sees the track fairly regularly. Always used Cobalt GTS pads. Was really active 2005 through 2008 at Mission and PR. Then got married and took a break until last year. Did 1 event at Mission yet really missed PR. Now that the motor is built I'd like to revisit it. Definitely looking for a group to roll out with as my previous group kinda split up and disbanded a while ago.

dont worry about that flame suit- one of the sponsors here (Dales) picked up a mint R which his new project car I think this forum has lots of love for other makes!

ah, you went a lot with uh that's what group called- name escapes me right now. i know a few ppl who tracked with them.. Doug Reyes, I think Pat Seto as well... I see the Boznik brothers GTI's in teh backkground too (and that now yellow FD)

anyhow, hopefully we can try to plan a mutual track day! would be cool!

We got a little sidetracked by the ITR... should Morrisport days get added to the list?

They look to have one of the only (maybe only) Saturday slots at Mission this year.

Mission turned all of my pads into smoke and dust..turns out I was pushing the WRX too hard.
I replaced the brakes with slotted rotors and street performance pads...but I'm not sure if the same will happen to me again this summer. Seems like you almost need a racing pad just for that one day to stay on the track (turn 1 is scary when you lose the brakes!!)

I checked Morrisport's website..I don't see any dates yet. Could you post a link to where you see the Saturday event?

Morrisport Track Days: March 30th, June 24th and August 20th. There is a First Timer group available for each event as well for anyone attending their first track day.

Hey Slowguy, how do you find the db restriction at Mission? I was hoping to do my first event there but it's not looking likely as my exhaust is fairly...loud.

They're pretty strict; but it's just a matter of letting off near the end of the front straight. haha

I know Ken Lau had an issue there but was quickly resolved w/ the letting off..
