Nothing idiotic about it. Have had the car for over ten years and was just really poor when i started out. 6-speed grearing sucks. My car worked better with the 5-speed. As a Subaru tech, it was cheaper to rebuild the 5-speed than replace with six speed.

Replaced with fully built 5-speed once i was no longer poor. All is well now, and i have better ratios than the six.

But thanks for the friendly comment anyway.

Another thing to keep in mind about the 5 speed, it's about 85 pounds lighter than the 6 speed. For autoX, a built 5 speed beats the 6 speed.

With a 2.5 in a GC chassis running 275+ tires its pretty easy to make minimum weight in SM isn't it?

Yup, easy to make minimum weight in SM with 275 tires. I was at 2750 with a full tank and steel hood, minimum is 2700. 5 speed is key - btw top speed in 2nd is 65-70 with the right ratio box.

I'm in that range with a 6-speed.

The 5-speed is lighter, but since the minimum weight for my car is 2970 I'm ok with the extra weight of the 6-speed since it's low and in the middle of the car.

Isn't the weight of the 6-speed "low, and in the middle" and in the front of the car? In a very well prepped car, wouldn't a built 5-speed and 75-100 lbs of ballast under the rear diff trump a 6-speed? Same weight, better fore aft weight distribution.

Trouble is there's no way to build a 5 speed. Even with the best gearset known to man and those blast plate things it really doesnt get much stronger and it'll still going to be a hand grenade with the pin pulled in a serious street mod car. And then you also lose the dial-a-drift from the 6 speed.

Haven't had any issues in over three years of racing with my built 5-speed. It's been completely trouble free with up to 485 WHP on my car, track and autocross use. Even made a few trips to the drag strip with it.

U stream app on the phone? That is what I have to do at work. But it just has a ? on half the screen now, but audio works.

PJ is running the Panda in SSM 1, because he can. 2, **** you. 3, dividing a class by number of seats is dumb.

I also heard it broke which is why they were way off their pace.

Give everyone the SSM weight formula for minimum weight any car actually over 2500lbs is eligible for SM Heavy. So SMH will be for almost all AWD cars, anything RWD over 2.6 liters and turbo or 4 liters and N/A, and all the FWD cars that cant get down below 2500lbs. Its going to be AWD cars vs vettes vs other rwd things with v8s (e36 with an e90 m3 motor?) vs mini's and heavier fwd cars and also SML cars that ballast up for the 3rd and 4th drivers. SML will be the panda and such vs the miata vs the rx7 vs the civaks.

You could still run a screamer N/A EZ30D in SML or a turbo JDM EL15 (which lol uses the EJ25 crank?) or turbo FB16.

I would probably raise that up 1-2 hundred pounds, but I do really like the idea. The SCCAs insistence on separating two and four seaters seems to have started with sm (and sm2 ) and continued through the ST classing. They seem to be in the process of fixing that for ST.

Maybe we can get your idea off the ground.
