I can confirm that MPG. I've been getting 27-ish on my commute where my STi was around 18. Flogging it goes into low 20-s but that's better than the 14-16 I had before.

Your car looks great, Tainen. I have my eyes on that Nameless exhaust, but gotta wait a while.

Update. Headers from Nameless are on the car. With the new style downpipe and axleback as well, the whole system makes 25whp.

vids of it on the handling oval today:

Just got done watching the videos. Nice!

The first half of the day the car behaved noticeably different than the second half of the day. Nameless did data logging for 3 hours before the track event, so we're sure AFRs and everything looked good- but yes, the ECU definitely did learn the exhaust some. It got a ton more smooth about halfway thru the day, and produced a better exhaust sound. They will be changing the downpipe design by adding in a resonator to get rid a bit of that harshness in the midrange sound, and it might even make more power with that, too.

(I don't work for nameless, they are just using my car for development)

Will they be doing another dyno with the new resonator design?

I'd like to see of it makes any difference to that mid range dip.

I got average of 27 MPG or so during the 1st 1,000 miles where I tried driving "nicely" keeping the tach under 4K or so "except in emergencies". After the break-in period I've been spending alot more time with the tach above the 4K mark in mixed driving and my average MPG has dropped to about 24. It's still a hell of alot better that most turbos under heavy usage.

Latest update. Catless headers are now on the car for the last 800 miles now. Zero Check Engine Lights, perfect drivability. We had it dyno'd at Drift Office as well, here's the vid:

Catless headers, catted overpipe/downpipe combo, axleback, and intake charge pipe. 179whp (stock was 159)

What do you think is holding the motor back from approaching 200whp? I know that was what you were thinking you could hit with bolt on's and tuning? Are you going to post the dyno sheet? I'm curious about what you were able to do with that ugly torque dip.

I don't think he's done any tuning yet, should be some power to gain there, probably not enough to reach 200, but it's hard to say at this point.

Well, there is still more power on the table for sure. A real intake should net a few more WHP, along with some other supporting mods like light weight pulley, maybe a flywheel, light weight wheels, etc.

We've seen people gain as much as 18whp with a tune so far. The torque dip is still there, though. The best setup we've seen to eliminate the torque dip so far is the developmental intake system and a catted aftermarket header- together they improve the torque dip a good amount, and they make it skinnier. With some tuning on those parts, I'd expect it to get even better- but I'm not sure it'll completely go away, after seeing how it reacts to parts.

All the dyno graphs from the parts development are here in this thread (post #400):
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=400

and the drift office dyno graph is in that vid.

I think we're going to need to do cams and tuning in order to reach 200whp, in addition to the header/intake/exhaust/tune. Without cams, I'm hoping we can break into the 185-190 area- with some minor chassis lightening, I think the car will be very nice to drive.

Also- during the drift office dyno day, we saw some stock cars that were pulling a lot better than mine did in stock form. Some pulled 165-167whp stock, whereas mine did 159- so maybe some of those cars can get close to 200whp without cams? We'll see in the coming months I suppose!
