This week I had my first bulb (high beam) burn out on my 2012 Impreza at 85K miles. I stopped by Advance Auto Parts and picked up a cheapo Sylvania Standard 9005 bulb($7) and put it in temporarily. I ordered the OEM bulbs online ($13 per) because I have had bad luck in the past with Sylvania bulbs as daytime running lights. My order just came in today and as it turns out our OEM bulbs (Part number: 84920PA000) are nothing more than Sylvania Standard 9005 bulbs (Made in the USA) in a Sylvania-branded cardboard box with a Subaru of America sticker on it.
I also ordered the OEM H11 low beams ($18 per. Part number: 84920YA000) as spares and they are just Philips H11 Standard (Made in Germany) in a plain white box with a Subaru/Fuji Heavy Industries sticker on it. Long story short. If you want OEM bulbs when your lights go out just pick up the Sylvania Standard 9005 bulbs locally for $7 and the Philips H11 Standard on Amazon for $9. |

My friend's Malibu requires removing the entire front bumper just to change a bulb and because it is GM the retaining clips are almost guaranteed to need replacing. |

I personally recommend the Philips Crystalvision Ultras. For the fogs, if you still have the PSX24W (please do the H11 swap stat), you're stuck with basic bulbs. But I've ran these (highs, lows and fogs) almost for 2 years in this car and it's my favorite halogen setup by far. Last much longer than typical "boutique" bulbs as well. And a nice, clean white. Basically half the parts store price on Amazon as well.

[quote=nubsub;43013879]thanks for the helpful information. just filed it away for future needs.
(was the change easy? i ask because i always thought bulb changing was easy until i met my wife's Toyota Prius...)[/quot Headlight bulbs are very easy to change in our cars. Most annoying thing about the job is getting those stupid plastic clips off . I always seem to break them. |

I've replaced every bulb on this car except the 3rd brakelight on the hatch. They're all easy except the headlight "eyebrows". Those are doable, but they take a little work.

Nice the car is in motion too. So who has the highest mileage in the current gen Impreza regardless of year?

Have any of you guys had to go in and replace your wipers? My car is still under warranty (8k on odometer) so I'm going to take it in to get looked at but my wipers suddenly stopped working on the right side of my windshield and partially on the left side.
It's definitely been in colder weather with no issues. |

Other people on here have gotten their wipers replaced under warranty. However, the OEM wipers kind of suck, and good wipers aren't very expensive, so many people have gone that route as well.

OEM wipers worked fine for me for 2 years. Replaced them with PIAA which seem to work just as well as the OEM. The right-side wiper contact was never very good for me.
