Have you tried searching? Just curious, because this is about the eleventybillionth thread that we've had on THIS EXACT ISSUE... It could be someting as simple as lubricating a part on the pedal assembly, to something as serious as the spot welds on the firewall by the clutch MC failing. It could be many things.
What I would suggest you do is take it to the dealership. You should still have a nice, shiny warranty. Take advantage of it and get it fixed. |

With it still under warranty I would take it there first.

that is the spring for clutch pedal rod..
you guys did not know what was?..come on.. you have 2 options, 1 short term fix. spray penetrating spray on spring. but it will come back. 2 long term fix. remove spring submerge in penetrating spray. reinstall after the spring soaks for an hour. its just the sound of the spring being elongated. |

My 08 started off just like that when it got wet and cold out...then clicking..then super stiff once the welds went.
Easy way to check is pull the wiper cowl and take a look. You can see the spot welds and check the flex and or see if the welds are breaking. Sadly this is a very common issue with the 3rd gens. |

I also have a similar issue, I checked the spot welds underneath the cowl but those are still solid, ill try to lube the spring on it I guess

Since the dealer like wont fix the issue if its just the shotty spot welds (they wouldn't for me) there is an easy an effective fix. Drill about 1/4in through the 2 spot welds and place bolts through each drilled hold with some nice sized washers and locking nuts.

Pretty certain that the noise you are hearing is the clutch fork squeaking inside the trans. I had the same issue a million times and dealer couldn't trace it because they are terrible with stuff like that. To get access to the fork you have to pop off you tmic and pull back the little boot that surrounds the fork where it meets the slave cylinder. I use a good lithium spray grease and it totally changes the throw of the clutch pedal. Makes it a lot smoother. It's hard to find the right spot to spray but if you can understand where the clutch is you wanna spray heavily right behind it but just I front you the fork. Pump the pedal several times and repeat. I do this about once a year and it works great. I believe that keeping this contact point well lubricated can actually help prevent the welds from going because of how much less resistance it puts on the clutch assembly.

Hey guys! I own a 2009 WRX and we launched the proceedings for a Class Action against Subaru for the 08+ Clutch/Firewall breakage issues. If you've experienced this at all, please give Greg Coleman Law a call at 1-800-HURT-NOW. It should only take 10 minutes and hopefully, we can prevent this from happening again. His local number is 865-247-0080. Thank you for your help!
