Just to clarify, what Thomas (pretendingtowork) is running are the Feal inserts/shock combo valved for gravel, paired with king 1.5" lift springs. They have a progressive rate about 30% higher then stock.
What I'm running on my car are revalved for gravel (by Feal) 04 STi struts and king lift springs. Odi also has a strut insert option for us older chassis cars as well, very similar to what Thomas is running up front, but insert's all the way around rather then the shocks in the rear. A good solution for older chassis folks looking to upgrade to a good damper for RallyX but don't want to source a set of 04 STi struts. Those paired with Kings would be a good combo as well for the older chassis guys. It's all stuff based on dampers meant to withstand the punishment of rally use, so a good choice for RallyX folks! -Anthony |

Yeah, Anthony is a suspension guru. The guy I go to for anything suspension related. Listen to him for the technical talk.

Alright, sweet, I'll be running the same setup as Thomas then, just on a little newer 3rd gen, so I should enjoy the same type of a ride then. Curious how much the sways (22mm front & 19mm rear Rallitek sways) I'm getting will mess with the ride though. Guess it'll be good in both on & off-road, but not the greatest at either.

Well I got them put in today, wasn't too hard, mainly because Odi put the Kings on the struts for me and then shipped them out (thanks Odi!!!!). Job took a total of 4 hours, and that includes the trip to O'Reilly's to get a breaker bar for the rear strut's lower bolt. It looks pretty badass with the awesome (fistable+) wheelgap. I still need to adjust the rear struts, as they are sitting just a little higher than stock right now, but I need to find a spanner wrench that fits first. Tomorrow I'll continue the hunt. I'll post pics after completion.

Greg,
Your spanner wrenches are on the way, no need to buy anything. -Odi |

Adjusted the rear struts up by an inch and a quarter. I'm sitting at ~4.5" of wheel gap in the front and ~4" in the rear, so I need to do a little more adjustment in the rear (~.5") and I'll be happy.

My front right one blew last week after only 600 some miles. Sent both and should be to Odi tomorrow. Hopefully he can figure out what went wrong and get them back to me quick. Guessing one of the seals or something wasn't aligned or something. Wasn't even off-roading at all last week before it happened.

Can't wait to get mine back and back in. I'm getting the feeling I will need some dirty time soon. Maybe I should get my backup stockers revolved for some backup with the proper fit, and get a set of spring compressors. |

I just wanted to post up here as im running Gregs old struts. Sent them in to Odi, seems there as a o-ring that got goofed on the last rebuild but he got them back to me real quick i was very pleased. This weekend is rally-x time so we shall see how then hold up.

Would something like this be possible for 09-13 forester xt struts and shocks?
Thanks |

reviving and old thread
pretendingtowork, the old links are broken... can you update? I'd like to see them. Feal... are these inserts still offered? Alternatively, if I sourced a set of GR STI struts I take it you guys could to the custom valve? Never mind I realize now the STI 5x114 knuckle has a difference cleavis mounting pattern.
