Default Quick Question about fitting an Oil Temp. Sensor

Okay,
Quick Question:

First, I have a 2002 WRX.
I have a Greddy oil sensor sandwich block that mounts between the engine block and the oil filter.

I attached an Autometer Oil Temp. sensor to the Greddy block.

The sensor only would thread in about 1/3 of the way, and then I couldn't torque it in anymore because I was afraid of breaking it.
Nothing is stripped and everything is brand new.

Is this normal???

Can someone give me advice here really quick? There are no oil leaks whatsoever and the Oil Temp. gauge is working now, I'm just worried about the fitment issue of the sensor into the Greddy sandwich block.
