Default My car - almost finished!

Well after 4 months - it's almost done.
From this on Boxing day. (we cheated a bit and put the light pod on early)

To having fun with liquid nitrogen. (removing all the under coating and seam sealer)

Getting back from paint (after the cage was in)

The interior a few days ago.

The fuel cell and pump.

And finally the car - about 99% done.

Rocky Mountain Rally on May 26 & 27 will be the first event for the car.

Good job! Now don't roll it!

Won't those lights mess up the flow of air to the IC?

Did those aluminum sheet pieces work out for you?

Dammmnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, when you're done with it, I want to buy it. Consider this dibs. How does 4-5 years from now sound? That is, of course, if I don't prepare mine by then.

What kind of logo-color scheme do you have in mind? Obviously, it involves red.

At the Track

I always thought I'd do that to my WRX once it has outlived it DD status. Gut it, make it all race, then, learn to race As it is, racing isn't in my current budget.
I can't wait until 10 years from now when I don't care anymore if I get a dent or bottom it out - it'll make a great rally car! By then we'll all be driving hybrid/biodiesel/electric cars anyways, so it will be more of a treat to get into your 300hp car and get 18MPG.

Come on by if you need any 'sponsored' metal! I'm loving your project!

Thanks
Okay - in order :
1) Seam weld your car - sure - you take it apart > then put it back together again. The seam welding was the easy part.

2) No - I don't plan on rolling it - but I didn't plan on rolling my last car either.
2a) No - the flow to the IC is fine - the lights are only on at night and the flow is more than good enough for night temps.
2b) Yes the AL was great. - Thanks

3) In 4 to 5 years my son will be 16 - He has already "dibs" it!
3a) mmmmm . . . Graphics - you will have to wait and see. It's gonna be good!

4) I will be in P4 - going to Open is just another step up in the $$$ game.

I'll be P4 as well when the time comes. If you can make top 5 in P4 you're a good driver. I've seen some (as have you I am sure) open class cars without the drivers to complement them and they're lucky to finish top ten sometimes. Just look at guys like John Nichols, Gord Olson, Randy Zimmer... the list goes on and on... those guys can DRIVE!

EDIT: Keep me in mind for used but useable parts as I'm looking to build up an inventory to ease the burden when the time comes to go for the build.

Warren, I must say your preparation looks meticulous! Can't wait to see the car in action at the test day! As things stand, we're the only two entries in P4

WOW - My dad actually posted on a Forum!
Welcome to the 90's Dad!

Update on the car - it almost started last night - one of the injector O rings must have been 'mushed' a bit - so instead it dumped about $4.00 worth of VP 103 fuel on the ground in 3 seconds.

New O rings - $17.41 each
Having my car start by the weekend - Priceless.

Don,

Good to see you graduate from lurking. Come by Namao some time and see how your gravels work on tarmac.

Cheers,
Mark

Warren,

I'm curious as to how heavy the car ended up (did you have to add balast at all?) or does the cage/equipment required counter the stripping/lightweight seats etc?

We have not had the car on the scales yet - but I can guarantee that the car weighs more now. The addition of the cage far out weighs the removal of the interior bits.

Plus you are adding things like fire extinguishers / tool kits / full size spare(s) / skid plates / underbody armor / etc.
