Default Coupe vs Sedan

I can't decide on getting a coupe or sedan. I like the sporty look of a coupe but sedan has so much more space! what do you guys here think? I'm only a college student and i will be driving long distance whenever i go home, so which one will be more comfortable driving in?

It's pronounced "WAGON" not coupe. theres a big difference. Both the wagon and sedan will give you the same comfort level. It just depends on how much stuff you have to put in your car.

If he's talking about the gm body like the L and the RS's than the size difference is minimal. But I dunno I always felt cramped in my 2.5 RS coupe and I'm not a huge guy by any standards.

Driving conditions felt the same between my RS and the WRX but you just feel lower. Not much of a difference unless you carrying a ton of junk since than you'll wish you had the back seats.

If you can afford it just get an WRX. You'll love it more.

Save yourself a headache and get a sedan. It's just so much more versatile than a 2 door. But then again, the coupe just looks SO much better.

2 doors do look better.. but u'll get sick of it when u gotta bring more than one other person along. 4 doors is definitly the way to go for a car, unless your getting a few cars, then a little 2 door is always fun.

I used to be a "coupe guy" but have come to appreciate the smaller, lighter and easier to handle sedan doors, aong with the obvious easier access to the rear seat. Yes, 2-doors usually look better but like "fender gap" you can't see any of it while you're driving.

coupe is considered a sedan
the car is listed by most all insurance companies as a sedan

my auto insurance is not expensive and i have max coverage + uninsured
(2001 2.5RS Coupe)

and yes, both cars are the same size -
Length 172.2in, width 67.1in and height 55.5in

Weights:
Coupe 5MT = 2,795
Sedan 5MT= 2,800

Last year the coupe was produced was 2001

and the car absolutely rocks

4dr is more convienent not only for loading passengers but for packing as well. You dont have to put everyting in the back seats at a weird angle, you just pop the door open and put things in straight on. You will appreciate that on your hikes to mom & dads.

It's also not like the 4dr looks any worse than the coupe or that it weights any more either.

I got corrected by Subie Gal, YAY (I feel so violated now) j/k

I guess that'll teach me not to call my insurance company first, foot >>mouth I just got off the phone with my agent and you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. The pricing is the same for both. Thanks Subie Gal and sorry you had to correct me. I try never to open my mouth w/out the facts, but I got OWNED on that one. i guess I'll have to stick to BOV questions till I learn a lil more.(I HAVE learned the correct answer to that question)

.. GREAT car(s) and website btw , VERY jealous.
BTW, is that the stage three trunkmonkey your using in that rally car? I'd like that level of performance myself, I just don't know if I could afford the bar-tab for one of those

The 2 doors will have the b pillar moved back and give you the driver more room. The 4 doors will make it possible to carry injured or otherwise hard to move poeple around much better but the b pillar will be further forward and may restrict shoulder room.

Conversely 2 door cars tend to have worse/less side impact resistance in a crash than 4 door cars. 2 doors are also bigger doors and more prone to failure/falling although with the little Impreza doors it isn't such a big deal.

If you can stomach living with an absolutely worthless for everything sedan, then get one. I'll take a wagon over a coupe or a sedan any day of the week.

Get the Coupe. Differences between the 98-01 Imprezas and 02+ are that the 98-01s have a bigger trunk opening if that is important to you. Also I can fit bigger stuff between the seat and B-pillar than I can by opening the rear doors on the WRX.

Depends on what people want really. We can't make you decide what to get. If you want the convenience of not having to put the seats forward to put people in the back, then get the Sedan. Personally, I think the sportier look of the coupe is more important.

have owned both GC 2-door and 4-door

interior room between the 2 is essentially the same.

door opening on coupe is wider, giving impression of more room. on the other hand, the coupe body is definitely more flexible. RS headroom is cut about 1 to 1.5" by sunroom mechanism, whenther it's 2 or 4 doors. Here is one place the L is superior.

the rear seats on the 4-door are exactly the same parts as on the coupe, it's just easier to climb in with the extra doors. the front seats in the 4-door may feel a bit more cramped by the b-pillar being further forward. however, the 4-door body structure is WAY stiffer than the 2-door. the B pillar being place halfway into the side opening (as opposed to the coupe's B pillar, which is about 60% of the way back) really beefs up the shell.

For all the people who say its a pain to have people in the back of a coupe, just do what i do make them all load in from the passenger side. I never move my seat to let people in haha.
