well, a lot of people will tell you it's not about the straight track, it's about the curves

But, you can expect mid 16s with the 2.5L

lol cars with only 100hp go faster, though they weight about 1000 pound less.

The BD sedan is around 8.5 0-60 I believe.

The weight is about the same as the Impreza's of the similar model.

It all equates to slow. I'm not sure, but any slower, and I think a Prius hybrid might have better acceleration.

The BD/BG Legacys are nearly 300# heavier than the GC/GF Imprezas. The BE/BH Legacys were even worse, although the gap closed quite a bit when the 2002 Imprezas came out. The latest generation is only about 200# heavier than the Imprezas.

In any case, I wouldn't call any of those "about the same". You're looking at a 5-10% weight penalty, which definitely hurts.

Electric motors are torquey!

In any case, you're getting a scewed view of things. AWD cars were never meant for the quarter mile. When you have 3 differentials, there's going to be mechanical disadvantage. So that equates to a large power loss at the wheels.

Those 100 HP cars your'e talking about are Honda CRXs I bet, and they aren't anything slow because they're so light.

You pay a 3-5 hundred lb. price for AWD, not to mention that Legacys are much better in a crash than your run out of the mill sedan. CRXs are terrible.

ah, I must have looked at the 2002 Imprezas.

Edmunds shows the 1999 impreza at 7.9 and the Legacy at 8.4 in 0-60.

well ya i know the reasons for it being slower just didnt think it would be that slow. I was just wondering because my family just bought a 2.5i limited 2006. But looks like our 1997 outback could hold its own againts it. lol

It really depends I can get my Legacy 04 B? going 0-60 in the 9 second range. But when I first got it new, it was very slow with a dead spot and took more likely 10-11 seconds. I have been beaten at a light by a Tribeca. I floored it and the Tribeca just edged away from me.

Same engine, a tad more power, about the same weight. Yeah, it's basically the same car with a different body and some suspension changes

so uh, since i'm driving an 05 2.5i wagon right now, and it's an auto, i can confirm, that it's slower than a lawn mower, the "tip-tronic" wanna be sucks, and the only mode that has any amusement is sport, which will hold it in gear for a short time.

also, look! i found redline.
