Default fuel pump not turning on.

tried to start the swap today and it would turn over but not fire. havent checked the spark yet but i know for sure that there is no fuel. there is no pressure in the hose and no fuel in it either.

everything else so far is going good. no door chime, or airbag, or cel lights but batery and oil stay on. everything else is pluged in that i can find mates to. all others are asumed to be accsories that have yet to be pluged in. ie cruise, radio, ect.

how do i fix this? sugestions??

For reference this is a legacy ej22t into a 95 impreza. matt monson did a full harness merge for me and i have not clue what im doing when it comes to wiring which is why i outsourced that part of the swap. please help me.

theres a wire going to the old ecu, that u must cut and relocate to a ground. forget which wire. lol

fuses?
use a meter and check the power and ground at the pump

the fuel pump relay is under the dash in the upper left. should be right under your main relay (big brown thing)

if your pump isn't kicking on then that's the 1st place to check

If your check engine light isn't coming on, thats a good indication that the ecu is not getting power. Check that first.

check engine light wasnt kickin on but now it does and the temp gauge goes haywire adn the fuel gauge doesnt work anymore. ill check ecu next.

ps how does the fuel pump work ie what electric connections need to be completed before it works.

I just got my swap to run and had a similar situation to yours. I pulled all the plugs out of the ecu. Then checked every ground first to make sure they were grounded. Then checked all the power wires. One is constant, the rest are switched. I then discovered it was not getting switched power from main relay. I then just worked backwards from the relay and found my problems. You will need a voltmeter to test the grounds and voltages. I don't know the differences between my ej20g harness and yours but I am sure it is similar.

Constant power is a wire that will be providing power constantly without the key switch in the "on" position. Switched power is with the key on. 12v is a what the voltage should be, I wouldn't try this stuff unless you know how to use a voltmeter.

maybe its late but i dont understand what you mean by the difference between the key in the on position and the key on. also i can test volts on most of the connections but the only problem is on one connection from the fuel pump back there is no ground pin to connect the circut therefore its untestable.

I needs helps too! My pump isn't turning on.
'91 EJ22T harenss/ECU into '99 Impreza L. I have everything taken apart, did a few things.......

fuel pump doesn't turn on, dash lights are not on.....

I DON'T HAVE THE ENGINE IN YET, so all the plugs are not connected to the engine harness yet....that might explaine a few things too....we tried unpluggin the bulkharness plugs on my friends Impreza w/ 2.5L swap and his pump stays on in "ON" postion. Maybe I just have to put in my engine first.....

Constant power= ignition turned off, power even when switch off. Notice "without switched turned on" in his post. Always constant either way on or off.

Switched= power when switch is turned on. Only when switch is turned on.

Like how the clock in the radio works while your key's are not in the car. Same thing. Good Luck.

I would definatley put the motor in first, you might find your waisting your time trying to troubleshoot when it's not even needed.
