Default Stage 2 06 wrx Vs 05 sti

Did some runs last night vs. a 05 sti.

The first run was a crappy start, my fault on the beeps and i pulled on him. On the second run we were almost even i was up by a little but nothing significant.

we're going to re-run in a few days just to confirm things but tup to spending a hell of alot less and staying competitive. I REALLY can't wait to get my sr50 in now.

You beeped on a track? *wink wink wink* anyway I've had similar experiences. Its a drivers race BUT equal drivers will put the STI on top. I'm willing to bet a protuned cobb stage 2 06 wrx with a good TBE will run right next to an STI on a 1/4 mile track.

If it wasnt for the transmission, brakes, wheels, tires etc etc etc I think we'd do well in autox against the STI but thats ONLY powerwise.

I disagree. I bet an OTS stage two runs 12.9 with a good driver. You won't need a pro-tune to get you there.

If the 2.0l can run a 13.1, the 06 doesn't have to be that much faster to match an STi.

Definately can't say the STi would be on top given equal drivers...look at teh 06's stage II traps. They are RIGHT there.

2006 WRX with stage 2 is defenetly faster then a stock STI (any year), no doubt about that. I go to the race track every friday for the past 6 months and the closest a STI got to my 13.1 time was 13.4 (equaly skilled drivers)

A profesional driver's best time is 13.4 in the STI.

Just yesterday, some hot chick in a bone stock '06 STi busted out a 13.1 @ Beech Bend in Bowling Green, KY. She was driving the bejeezus out of it

well I THOUGHT a couple stock STI's have pulled a 12.9x if not lower, I could be wrong I dont know where I got that in my head.

I'll believe 12.9 on an OTS map when I see it. Not saying its not possible but 13.1 is the best so far and thats aways from 12.9x. Above 4800 rpms the torque and hp curves on the stg2 02-05 is very similiar stg 2 06's, and then the 06's are heavier.

I actually made a graph overlapping the stg2 02-05 dyno chart to the stg2 06 dyno chart using cobbs webpage. I saw it floating around here once but I cant find it right now.

But like I said I'll have to see the 12.9 to believe it. I really really really want it too do it, but I have my doubts...

Yeah there are a couple, I'd say it's a drivers race STi vs stg.2 06 WRX

Most STis doing 12.9s have at least an exhaust, not everybody is a great driver.

there a quite a few sti's out there that have run in the 12s stock, and you have to remember that not every sti owner that drags it is on NASIOC.....

i mean i've seen a stock sti take a z06 at altitude (those things run like crap up high)
but i don't remember numbers

the only thing i was saying is you can't compare 2 different strips or even 2 different days for that matter.

Yes, there are STi's at 12.9. The 13.1 06 was with a 1.9 60 ft. That can be bettered.

I think one will get there. Look at it like this. it takes the very best drivers to get 12.9 in their STi's. Just because the one guy that ran his 06 stage II didn't get there, doesn't mean the car won't. There's a LOT more STi's running out there. In time, I thnk we'll see it.

6 months ago, I would have said the same thing about the 06 Stage II vs. the 02-05's. But if a 2.0l is potentially running a 13.1, the 2.5 definately has an advantage out of the hole. That has to account for something.

simmer down....you should be complimented that people are modding a car just to try to beat another car in its stock form....they are working so hard at it, its becoming a goal. And thats just in one event, 1/4mile. No one mentioned how superior the STI is at any other event because thats not what we are talking about.

Its people that list there "HUGE list of goodies" that make WRX owners want to beat STI owners. Alot of STI owners are cool, and alot whine and brag about how great there car is....I'll let you decide which catagory your in from reading your own post again.

You're correct, this site has gone to crap due to ass clows like yourself. You jump on a bandwagon and buy an Sti then turn around and rag on people that passed on the Sti due to insufficient funds or their own personal reasons. You are awfully insecure that a less expensive, less hyped vehicle is practically equal on a drag strip. So please continue to belittle others because they do not have a huge list of goodies that you boast. The Sti is not the end all be all of automotive greatness.

Calm down,

NO ONE ever said aword about anything other than a straight line. This is afterall the proven power forum. As far as this discussion goes, yes, all we are talking about is a straight line.

We all know the other benefits of an STi over a regular WRX.

Again, this is the POWER forum. How can you expect discussions to focus around any other aspect???

HAHAHAA,..Fluckin babies.(A.K.A. REX RICERs)

I notice only the normal WRXs are getting panties in a bunch,...what's that tell you.
We're babies???

We are strictly talking about stragiht line speed here.God forbid someone says they made their WRX as fast as an STi....

Your intelligent response to that statement was this: Who cares, my car handles better.

Yes, we all know it does... THATS NOT WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE....

The topic IS straight line speed...if there is anything on THAT aspect you'd like to add, we'd like to hear it.

You are the one looking like a baby defending your the STi on aspects WE'RE NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT!

If you'd like to have your own discussion about handling, braking etc. thats fine...
JUST DO IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Ricers?

We;re just staying on topic here...how about you try that

THIS IS NOT WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!!! Understand???

What don't you get about this forum....

It's PROVEN POWER BRAGGING....ITS ALL ABOUT HOW MUCH POWER...

If we were talking about EVERYTHING else that makes an STi better, WE'D BE IN ANOTHER FORUM...get it?

What aren't you understanding about this???

CN: Why the &*$% are you talking about handling in the proven power forum? This is where people come to talk about POWER! Sorry you don't like that...
