Default So I got to thinking...

After my incident with the incompatible short throw and the linkage, I began to wonder.

Can I swap a newer tranny's linkage into my current car so I can have access to this aftermarket stuff? I'd really love to be able to use the KB products

From pictures and such, it looks like everything should swap over fine. What kind of involvement is this going to be? Would it be a hard install? I'd probably have to ground the car and drop the tranny, right?

TIA

-Mark

Get a WRX assembly, it's a common 1G update. You don't have to drop the transmission, but it's not very easy to get to some of the bolts. It's the same procedure as getting the full STI short shifter kit installed.

does the WRX have shorter throws? Just curious.

I'll look around in JYs.

Probably not much, if any shorter than your stock lever in the standard form. I know it was a popular option in the beginning to get the STI short throw, so WRX linkages were all over the place. I'm not sure if that's still the case. WRX linkages should be the same as any 2000+ linkage, so don't limit yourself to just Impreza WRX models.
