I am hitting 20psi, then it drops down, and wiggles about 3psi for a few seconds, then it finally settles down around 4k.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Jason

What is your utec boost gain set to? the default is 50, if yours is 50, try 55.

when I build a boost map, i use the same value for the entire column. This gives me an idea of what the turbo wants to do. After I reach the peak boost values i'm shooting for, I then use values of 500 in lower rpms to get it to spool faster.

Ok, I'll try that, because I think it is set to 50.

I was always hearing that boost should taper down, i'll try all one number and see what happens.

Thanks!

I have been running 54 to 56 for boost gain. I think I'm running 55 right now as well.

350 to 325 is a big jump. That's probably 2-3 psi. I'd smooth out your map a bit. I think tapering has a lot to do with preference. I think my 30 load column is about "80" and I tape up to ~350 fairly linearly. This makes the car deliver power in a predictable way and allows you to control power well with the gas pedal.

I found I did not need to put really large numbers in low RPM, and it doesn't help spool on the 3-port solenoid. It just causes compressor surge in 5th and 6th gear around 2500-3000rpm because I can hit 18psi by 2600rpm in 6th gear.

^^ good point. I put the 500's in in the 90% and 100% TPS. Ive always felt they help. I'll try it without though and see what happens.

I set the boost gain to 55, and put 80 in the 30% column, then just added 40 to each column, up to 360.

I'll see how that works tomorrow.

thanks for the suggestions.

I found that having the WGS on at all caused some really nasty spikes. Try turning that off if you have it on.

56 gain right now on my car, and no real spiking...

Yea, I have WGS set to 0, I had it on before the GM solenoid, and it was causing a nasty spike, so I turned it off then.

There is another thread concerning the WGS feature being bugged. I wouldn't run with it on. Again, the 3 port solenoid helps out a ton so it probably isn't needed as much as if you were still running the stock bleeder.

Well, I built my boost map like this:

500 to 7k ECU ECU ECU ECU 80 120 160 200 240 280 320 360
7k to 9k ECU ECU ECU ECU 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100

If i nail it from say 40, in 2nd, the boost will spike to around 18psi, then wiggle around 14-17 for a few hundred RPM's then settle down at 15.

I have the WGS off, and the gain set to 55, should i increase the gain number?

I know the solenoid is hooked up right, well at least I think it is.

Port 1 - Compressor
Port 2 - Wastegate
Port 3 - Intake

snipped off the stock connector, soldered on the gm one.

If i put 5 in the 0% column, i can hear the solenoid 'clicking' so I know it works.

I'm just really frustrated right now.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Try putting 60 in boost gain. Try 65. Whatever. It won't hurt. Start high and work your way down. Just because 55 works for me doesn't mean it will work for you. Higher is slower response but less spiking, more conservative. Keep going up if you have to.

Can you post some logs? Start out @ 2000rpm in 3rd run it up to near redline. Then start in 3rd gear again, but ease up to 4500rpm, then punch it and run it up near redline. Post logs of both.

What is it that has you so concerned? That spike isn't too bad, & is still within the turbo's efficiency. When it gets colder you may have problems, but for now you s/b ok.

The only thing that worries me, is i'm only 'settling in' at around 15psi, and would like to be at around 16.5.

I have the gain at 60 now, no spike.

I'll post up the logs tomorrow am (after some pulls on the way to work)

I think I may have stumbled upon something.

I had 80 in the 40% column, and 380 in the 100% column, and just evenly spread the numbers inbetween.

Today I put 370 in 90% and 380 in 100% and with alot smaller jump, and NO spike, even at 50 boost gain.

I am going to try a slightly higher number in 80% and see if I can turn the gain down a lil more. I still need to tune in a lil more boost, as I'm only at 15psi, and would like to be around 17.5ish.

thanks again guys,
Jason
